I took her to the vet in the small town where I grew up. They were great to her and didn't charge the sometimes outrageous city vet prices! A friend of mine had her dog spayed around the same time for $425 here in the city.
I found one who will do it for $120.00 15.00 PER baby tooth that needs to be pulled adn 50.00 for the micro chip...still will add up, but not to 500.00 dang dollars.

That was real reasonable. I haven't found anyone here who pulls the teeth free, and of course, Miss maya has quite a few.

however, i have already paid for bentleys neuter once (long story) and need to get him neutered for real this time i love my vet - he is great - but when i called for an estimate, i came up with over $500 for the neuter, baby teeth removal, pre op bloodwork, etc...i am sorry, i love my kids to death but i think that is ridiculous!

i have looked into the local SPCA and they offer lower cost neuters and i am going to contact them....i completely feel your pain!
Yep I feel ya

ok thanks

I guess it depends on the area.
Good luck Mr. P

thanks Sandysand and Misti1 for the information. Unfortunately, no vet in my area for the certificate.
I called my vet to schedule Gunnar, (shhhh he has no idea) for the you know what, and it's $125.75, includes meds and collar. They use gas.
$10.00 per tooth to extract! I don't know how many baby teeth he has left since he swallows them! They will let me know.

The spay is cheaper where I found, but they charge 15.00 PER tooth, and higher for the chip 50.00

I haven't posted in awhile, but I totally see where you're coming from. I too am in the same sort of boat. It will cost me at least $500 to get Tila spayed and chipped and all the other extras that will need or might need to be done. I lost my job, and have been at a loss. I have spent a lot in vet costs this year alone already. I had to take Tila in for an ear infection, and my elderly cat recently got sick and and the costs are just rising and rising. He's going to be on medication for the rest of his life, and if I go with the surgry its $2300. I just went in yesterday for his blood tests, cost $100. Then they told me he's got ear mites. My cats don't go out, and I don't know where he would have got them. He's only been to the vets office, now I have to take both cats in for ear flushing next week. Cost about $140. And my Odie has to go in next week too, for nail clipping. Because he hates everyone I can't take him to a groomer to get it done, and I'm scared to do it cause he nails are black. So its going to cost me $30 to take him in. I love my babies and will do everything I can, I would never deny them the vet care they deserve, I just wish sometimes it weren't so expensive, especially since things are so tough all over now. I couldn't even buy Tila a new jacket. It sucks. But like I said I will do what I need to they're worth it. I'll just keep trucking.

Not that there is a damn thing was can do about it, but you can't convince me that these people are not making a mint off of the emotions of the owners. They know they have you where they want you...it's almost criminal I think.

SO the vet I ended up with (which will be the one I will now change to), the cost came in at around 300.00. Now that I can deal with for a one time cost. I am also going to have to look into the pet insurance my friend had with his 3 cockers. He swears that in many instances it was a life saver, but his girls had some real unusual things happen, slipped disc between the 3rd and 4th vertebra, uterus ruptured, stragne stuff. But he would initially pay it out, file a claim, and he would get most of it back from them.

I don't know.
