I Love Thor Donating Member | Choosing a Michrochip. What do you use? I am about to get my dog microchiped and I am interested in what everyone here has. And also how well do you like the product that you have. Thanks for the input! Hannah and Thor! |

| I know a few breeders who tattoo or implant microchips to their puppies . I don't know how they can do it and I don't intend to learn the method . |

| You really don't want to know how they do it. The breeder that I got my last one from put her chip in while we were there. It's kinda like a shot. The bore on the needle part is huge....well, I wouldn't want to get a shot with it. The chip is only the size of a grain of rice and they slide it into the needle bore and then place it under their skin and shoot it in. It doesn't take long to do but I could never do it. |

| Oh ok. I'm not a breeder and I couldn't do it either but I always assumed that it was done at the vet when their tales got docked at three days old. My Bentley has one and I always wondered how they got it in there

| I was going to have Dublin chipped when I get him neutered, so I haven't delved into the details yet... So you register with the AKC, the vet, as well as the maker of the chip?? What about AKC if your dog isn't AKC? Dublin's from Ireland and not AKC registered. Will they still let me add him to their list? Hmmm so much to learn!
