Me: "Oh Really... Well you looked wrong, yours is BELOOWWW AKC Standards :p I can Show this lil Guy if I'd like, AKC Standard is 4-7 lbs... he is 5.6 lbs .. it's all fur lol ;) .. the breeder must have told you that to sell the dog but they aren't supposed to be that small and I'm not sure you'll be able to show it but you can try, I am sure she's cute!"

Her: "Well I like mine small so do they (her family) and his color aren't they usually gray like mine?"

Me: "Yeah but he has a cotton coat so he most likely won't turn that silver color of the average Yorkie.. it's ok though huh baby?" (talking to Gucci)

Her Husband: "He is just gorgeous, I love this color! Actually, I love this size, he is perfect and looks so rare.. I have never seen a Yorkie this color before .. he's beautiful.. ours has a pointy face huh honey? not like this one and his eyes are big, he looks like a stuffed bear"

Their Daughter: "Awgh, he is so cute mommy!!! can I pet him?"

Me: "Thank you very much, that makes him happy ... see" (Gucci wagging his tail and trying to get to this man from my arms)

Her : "UGH :mad: well I like them smaller.. even if its not AKC standard but I think they are supposed to be small!!!" (stomping off)

BLAH!!! I hate bitter, angry people who have nothing better to do than try and insult people out of jealousy!! I honestly think she was jealous that her husband and kid seemed to fall in love with Gucci and he was bigger than her 2lb Yorkie at home.. I am sorry he is so stinkin cute that's not his fault OR mine, why be mean because of that. Besides, if you didn't like the way he looked why were you staring him forever? and why did you approach me asking me if you could see him? UGH people get on my nerves .. and normally I would never ever be not nice but she got on my nerves fairly quickly and I won't dare keep my mouth shut when you push me there.. I will ever so sarcastically.. get on yours right back... you will wish you hadn't gone there :p.

5.6 lbs
7.5 High
7.5-8 long maybe 8.5 he squirms alot
Cobby, Furry and CUTE and well within AKC standards... So what the heck was this chicks problem?? He is hardly big :confused: he might not be TINY.. but that's OK.. so what was her deal?

He's gorgeous. But I completely understand, if I'm not being paid to deal with people's crap, and they push me far enough, I'm very sarcastic too. But she should've known better, poor, sad, ignorant woman. hahah.

He is cute and I see your point but her dog is actually in the standard also. The standard is 7 lbs and under there is no minimum weight. It doesnt excuse how nasty and snobbish she was though I know

lol seriously.. I cannot deal with rude people.. I just can't! I was raised with a firm belief in YOU TREAT PEOPLE HOW YOU WANT TO BE TREATED and I do apply that to my daily life! I think she was just sad and misinformed and then got jealous and annoyed with me.. It was very irritating to say the least.

I personally love all yorkies whether they are 1-4lbs or 4-15 lbs doesn't matter to me... and I will one day have a 3-5 lb female BUT I CAN TAKE CARE OF IT AND I KNOW that it may be smaller than Standard (if on the 3lb side) But that doesn't mean I will LOVE GUCCI ANY LESS Because he will be about 6-7 lbs by then.. NO I WILL LOVE HIM JUST THE SAME.. and I would never ever discriminate or put someone elses CHILD down.. after all these yorkies are OUR CHILDREN.

Awgh thank you and no there was NO EXCUSE for how she was being..

This is from the AKC website though .. I was told by a lady that is an AKC judge they are 4-7 lbs (standard anyway for show) I could care less to be honest but that was my comeback :p

Ugh! I hate that!

I always feel so bad for my Smokey (he's 13 lbs) because people always comment on how cute Chip is (he's 6.5 lbs) and want to pet Chip and not Smokey. Chip doesn't like people he doesn't know so he stands behind me, but Smokey is all happy to meet everyone and practically knocks them down to get some lovin' but people still ignore him. I think he's beautiful! I think both of my babies are beautiful! I just don't know why they care so much about size. Health and personality are more important to me than their size.

Awgh poor honey, I would love to see pics .. you should make an album for him!! I would give him tons of lovin!!

Gucci is a tad smaller than chip (most likely will max out chips size or so).. can you imagine that.. you have a 6lber you know they aren't big lol.. she was just nuts.. maybe her eyes were bad :rolleyes:

Adrianna, Aiden is a huge Yorkie. He's 12 lbs.:rolleyes: That is because I think people forgot about the "Standard "size. Everyone is so into the smaller or dare I say... "Toy" that they have distorted sense of what the actual sizes of this breed is. She was ingnorant. Sadley they're everywhere. Gucci is adorable...bottom line. He's very well loved and cared for and most importantly...He's the YT Snuggle Sack Spokesdog!!!! He a model. Tell her to top that!! LOL :D

Haha goodluck showing a 2lb bitch. When judges look at bitches they want to know that they should be able to safely whelp a litter. You usually want a bitch to be at least 5lbs with a good frame. You could put a smaller male in the ring but I still don't think one that is 2lbs is going to do that well. Yorkies are not supposed to be that small and good breeders strive to get dogs in the 4 to 7lb range. These people that think it is better to have a tiny dog are just stupid

Im not trying to be argumentative but the YTCA writes the standard for the AKC so that is the AKC standard. When they say 4-7 lbs they are just giving a general rule. I dont want anyone on here that has a smaller yorkie to think they arent in the standard because that is incorrect

I think people also forget that our dogs are like our babies and it's not okay to see mean things to people you don't know.. nor is it okay to say mean things about their babies!!! .. people can be so rude! the day someone comments negatively on one of my kids, the day comes that they will get a look that turns them to jello in their shoes!!! :p :D

Those are my thoughts exactly, how can a female under 4lbs be SHOWN when they really shouldn't be bred? Aren't show dogs meant to be bred to keep the show line going? they are disqualified if they are neutered/spayed and to be honest a female under 4 lbs should be neutered/spayed as it is dangerous for them to produce.
I could see a smaller male being show possibley but a female? Of course Yorkies come in ALL SHAPES AND SIZES but to be shown there are rules.. Maybe the judge I spoke with was speaking of what they look for when judging 4-7 lbs.

Your little Gucci at 5.6 lbs is tiny! OMG, my Suzi at 7lbs must be absolutely huge ! LOL. It is really crazy that some people go nuts over size and want the very small Yorkie... To me it is just goofy! As long as the dog is healthy and happy then nothing else needs to matter. people can so silly . I would have had a hard time not laughing in her face. Shake my head and walk away ! I am sure the woman's little itty bitty yorkie is very precious too, however to try and insult or put anther Yorkie down for being a few lbs bigger is absolutely ridiculous. They are all beautiful .:aimeeyork

People are so rude. I'm proud that Jackson is already 8.6 pounds! lol. So if Gucci's big, Jackson must be obese!! haha.

And by the way, Gucci is seriously THE cutest yorkie I think I have seen on here! LOL. He is such a doll. ALL of them are so cute. But he does have that teddy bear look to him that's just absolutely adorable.

You already know how cute & perfect I think little Gucci is! :) I'm impressed at how well you handled yourself with that woman. I would've come unglued if she had insulted one of my kids like that, especially with him right there! Sounds like Gucci handled it like a little gentleman as well. Way to go!!

I would've been the same way back. I've never had problems with people saying Lilly is big but if I did, I probably wouldn't even give them the luck of having any portion of my day. Lilly is beautiful & I love love love her having the darker coloring.

I find it pretty amazing that there alot of rude, ignorant people out there with or without Yorkies that go out of their way to speak or ask questions about your Dog and then you have to hear about their's! The AKC. Standard to show a Yorkie is 4 to 7 lbs. but it's not only the size, color & conformation count as well? IMO a Yorkie should still look and act like a Yorkie, I see so many very small Yorkies that are so weak and feeble, shaking and can't even walk on the ground. Yorkies come in all sizes, I have the pleasure of having
3, one is small 5 lbs., medium @ 7 lbs., and large - Artie a whopping 10 lbs.
I think too many people judge Yorkies by their "Size" that they completely ignore their Conformation? Temperment? Training? Socializing? I have alot of Friends and Relatives that have Yorkies and they purchased them strictly based on their "SIZE" and they are very disappointed b/c they did NOT stay the size as promised by the Breeder.

That was so rude. :( I'm sorry that happened.

Gucci is PRECIOUS! I think he may be one of the cutest yorkies I've seen! Don't worry about what rude people say. ;)

Mscat - lol I guess most people have Gi-Normous yorkies according to this woman lol... I think it's silly to judge by size as well.. I LOVE ALL YORKIES Tiny and Huge!!! they are all gorgeous and should treated like kings and queens!!

I was actually very irritated and tried VERY HARD not to say anything too harsh.. It did take a lot from me.

TeresaM - I do believe that anyone would be upset as well.. people are terrible sometimes.

emilyann - I love the darker coloring as well.. and to be honest everyone falls in love with Gucci .. heck her family did as well.. she was just upset from some unknown reason. It was quite sad.

artie merlino - I do find it very crazy myself that people can be so uncaring and thoughtless with what comes out of their mouths. I love all yorkies big, medium, tiny and tinier!!! it makes me sad that some people don't care at all .. about health, tempermant or anything .. they just want it tiny.

We just came from a grooming shop (hubby and I ) and there was a female in there that was the same weight and size as Gucci but with a flat silky coat .. and she was tiny compared to him lol.. he has so much fur he looks bigger than he actually is.. But I LOVE HIS FUR and then there was another that was about 8 lbs and considerably larger than Gucci but I LOVED THAT LITTLE FEMALE REGARDLESS OF HER SIZE and WE LOVED THE MALE AS WELL!! .. these guys should be loved for the joy they bring to people when they are around and for their sweet personalities who cares about size!!!

I put Smokey in an album now and I'm about to add an album for Chip. Yea 6 lbs is not big at all! Chip walks right underneath of Smokey and doesn't even need to duck at all!

She was just jealous that Gucci is so adorable with his little teddy bear ( and very expressive ) face ! Chloe is also mad that the lady was talking smack about her date to the ball :mad::p .

Gucci is perfect and ABSOLUTLY one of the most adorable furbabies I have seen.

Some people just have nothing better to do than try to make themselves feel better by trying to make you feel bad in some way :(

Awgh see Gucci says that's my kind of girl!!! He is very happy that Chloe has got his back!! :p He said that's why Chloe is his date .. because she's got it all!!!

I couldn't agree more. I won't judge a person for their size, let alone a pet. It's ridiculous. Know what? Those of us with 2.5 lbers get judged for our Yorkie' size too. I am constantly hearing about how small Missy is from people, and not always in a good way. You just can't win :rolleyes:
