I just find it amazing how far he has come and want to yell it from the rooftops for everyone to hear. There are lots of wonderful little guys just like Truman waiting to be saved from a horrible fate in shelters. I'm not sure if I shared this or not but Truman did have people that came to look at him for adoption. They all left because he looked so horrible and didn't want anything to do with him :( I wish I could show off the new and improved Truman now! :D Boy would they be sorry they passed him up!:animal36

Maybe it wasn't the people who passed Truman over, maybe Truman passed them over because he knew they were not the right family ;)

Loving the photo journey - you can feel his coat - but I see a different little guy in his eyes :)

He will make someone a wonderful dog - and to be housebroken! :animal-pa

Sorry the arthritis is limiting him.

Even the arthritis is getting much better. He has been on the meds for 4 days and I can see that he is starting to loosen up in his hips. He can not only do a little doggie stretch but he did a good feel good shake. It was so cute:p he had that WOW did I do that look after he did it. :p I was at first worried that he would not be able to continue to take it because he did have the upset tummy but I think he has now cleared that little bump in the road. :animal36

Is his tummy settled down? He's such a doll! Give him a kiss from me & one from Clarence & one from Keegan & one from Duncan. Don't tell him Duncan is a cat, he might chase you!:p

Check out CholoGel & CholoFlex for Truman's arthritis. One rescue I was going to adopt from swears by this stuff.

Yes, is tummy is feeling so much better. I have been adding the canned pumpkin to his food and his poop is back to being firm. I have always fed my three NB venison and sweet potato and added canned pumpkin and Evangers canned 100 % Venison. I make a gravy to coat their kibble with warm water and they love it. When Doodlebug was a really small puppy he always had an upset tummy and I started adding it to their food them and it really helped him. Then when I brought home Bogey from the shelter he was almost as skinny and neglected as Truman but since Bogey was much younger he recovered much quicker. Truman was the hardest to get to eat and turned his nose up at my secret recipe. But now that he is feeling much better and eating 3 or 4 times a day  I have slowly been adding in the food my 3 eat and he is gobbling it up. :D Eventually I want to have them all on the same food but want to wait until after Truman has his neuter and dental. I'm not sure at this point if he will lose any teeth but the vet said they are in pretty bad shape :( I really want to get him as healthy as possible before March 9th when he goes for his surgeries. He will be neutered, dental, growth in his ear that needs to be removed, microchipped and he also has an adenoma in his rectum. The vet believes that the adenoma is hormone driven and will go down after his neuter but when he has him under he wants to take a better look at it. So my poor little man will be put through a lot and I want him to be as strong as possible. I'm pretty sure he is gaining weight now because when I picked him up this morning for potty he did feel heavier.

Thank you for the link and I will check it out. As for now, the plan is to keep him on the Previcox which is for arthritis but because he will be going for surgery and it also can a form of pain meds. The vet said he would rather he be use to taking the meds and knowing if they upset his tummy. After the other day I am glad that he decided to take this route with Truman. We all know that some meds can be very hard on the tummy and I'm glad that I have this under control. I would have hated to see him in pain from the neuter and have poop issues as well. So for now, I believe it would be best to keep him on this meds at least until after he recovers from surgery. I only have a 30 day supply and that will get him to about the middle of March. After that he said we can talk about possibly trying something else if this one was not helping him enough or switching to some form of glucosamine chondroitin which I believe is what your link is related to.

My vet is super good about being open to meds discussion so I will bring it up at his next visit. :)

Please don't stop the Truman updates. I love them!!! :D

I'm glad to hear the meds are working and he is feeling much better!

I know in some instances meds are very necessary, and I know not everyone is a fan of a more holistic approach, but I swear this DGP (http://www.theharmonyco.com/dgp.html...Fc5L5QodhWeFlg) worked miracles. My bullmastiff was on it while he was going through chemo, and the vet had no problem with it. It made a noticeable difference, as one time I ran out (bad mommy) and he went without for a few days and he definitely had a harder time getting up/down, etc.

I think we were posting at the same time :) My opinion of meds and supplements it that whatever works is fine with me. Holistic or traditional either way is fine. I really appreciate all of the different suggestions to help improve his quality of life. That is what is really important IMO~making Truman the best dog he can possibly be. I have never owned a dog with arthritis issues or allowed any of my pets to become so sick as Truman so all of the information is so appreciated. When I come on YT and see all of this love and support for him it really warms my heart. Thank you ALL for caring so much for this special little man.:D

* The doggie boutique that I buy the Evangers from believes in Holistic treatment for pets. She is another resource that I have used when I was having allergy issues with Pebbles. That is were I got the idea for the pumpkin and venison to supplement their food. I think I just might stop in and pay her a visit to pick her brain as well. Thank you again! :)

I think we have the same opinion on the drugs - whatever makes them live the highest quality of life. One thing is for certain, Truman is getting the best care of his life right now. Very sad to think about, but I am so happy for his change in circumstances!

Truman Update :)

2 Attachment(s)
It's been a few days since I have given an update on Truman so I figured that I would post a picture that I took of him~just last night. He is doing better every day and with his new medicine to help with the arthritis he is moving pretty quick! :p

My husband had him out in the yard on Friday morning. He told me that Truman was wandering around a little was down by our pool sniffing a bush ;) maybe about 35 feet away from him. All of a sudden Truman was right at his side. He flew into the house and woke me up to tell me about Truman accomplishment but of course I thought he was exaggerating how quickly Truman was now moving around.

Later that afternoon, it was time to go out for potty again. Truman stood up in his bed did a huge doggy stretch and I took them all outside. He TROTTED around the yard, gave a huge doggy shake and started wandering around did his business etc. When it was time to go inside I called him and he moved like I have never seen before! His old bones are really starting to feel much better! It was a trot albeit a slow trot compared to my other three but he sure has a lot of PEP IN HIS STEP! :p

Here is a couple of pictures that I took last night. He looks so happy sitting in is favorite spot!

Omg, I'm a sap! Truman looks SO good in these latest pics that it brought tears to my eyes! He looks almost puppyish. :animal36 He's smiling, and that cute little pink tongue is hangin' out. I can't believe he's trottin' around the yard like that. Finally, this little guy gets to experience all of the good things in life. It must make you feel so wonderful to be doing this for him. You are a special lady, that's or sure!
