Her bandage goes up too high though. Waiting to hear back from the vet on what I should do about that. It's starting to rub.

Her bandage does look like it's up awfully high .... maybe he can shorten it a tad so she can get around without it rubbing her raw. Poor baby! Please give her extra hugs for Toto and me!

That's what I think that they should do is shorten it, but he won't call me back! I called twice last night, and twice today...no response. Last night a different doctor was suppose to get back to me, and today the doctor who did her surgery was on shift. I'm getting upset

Maybe you could stuff some cotton balls around the top to cushion it?

The surgeon just called me, he said cut the bandage back myself if I can, or take her to my vet and they'll do it. He does not want it rubbing and creating a sore. The bandage isnt a "crucial" thing, it's just something he'd like to keep on for 3-5 days if possible. If it were to say...get wet or something, I would just take it off and keep it off. We are aiming to keep it on for 4-5 days though if possible, it gives her some support and helps to reduce swelling.

Well, Missy got her bandage slightly damp on the toes last night at 9pm. I called the critical care hospital because they said that if it got wet, it would have to be changed. They told me to just bring her in and they would change it right away. It was rubbing her armpit anyways and creating a sore. We got there and I had to wait a couple of hrs while the doctor dealt with an emergency that came in just before us, which is fine. Then he takes Missy to the back to change her bandage. He came out when he was done and said "well it was only slightly damp on the outside, the inside was totally dry, so it didn't really need changing. And those scratches under her armpit are actually razor burn from being shaved to close to the skin before surgery. Now the bandage is slightly irritating it by rubbing again the razor burn. I changed the bandage anyways, even though it didn't really need it. There will be a small charge for the bandage change". I get up to the reception area, and it's $52 bucks! Unreal! And the new pink bandage only has to stay on until today or tomorrow. Ugh, this is getting expensive! I'm wondering if I'll have to pay for the bandage removal and the stitch removal in 2 weeks too. I KNOW I'll have to pay for the follow up xrays in 6 weeks time. The bill just keeps getting higher and higher.

Missy is miserable, she hates the new bandage. I guess it feels different to her, so she wants to chew it off. I was able to have her without a cone with the old bandage, but now she must wear it or she'll take that bandage right off.

Here are pics from after we got home last night. She is getting SO greasy and dirty. I really wish that I could give her a bath.

The first pic is her happy to be back home from the Critical Care Hospital. The second is her trying to hide in her blanket to chew on her bandage. The third is her choked at me for putting back on the cone.

Awww, I just found this thread. Your little Missy is a doll. So sorry she had to have surgery, it sounds like things are going well. I hope she continues to improve quickly. Best to both of you.
