I did not try to go on the site but thought you might be interested in a little story about my area. We aren't the Bible Belt, but I was raised in a strick religious atmosphere. Well, our area published a Christian Yellow pages directory and I can't tell how many times my mom was cheated by the work solicited from this directory. People will use any trick in the book to make money, it isn't limited to one group of people but I just hate to hear about animal being subject to such tactics because they are so defenseless.

Yes to the barn and yes and no to the inspections.

USDA inspections are done to USDA affiliated breeders. There is also animal inspectors but they are only required to go to licensed kennels. unlicensed kennels get no inspectors. You are only required kennnel license if you sell or have over a certiain amount of dogs.

I have seen PILES of dogs in cages and stalls and also just the type where they only are small breeders with just a few dogs who get treated just like regular farm type animals . There's clean hay and clean food and maybe 2 females and a male who they breed once a year.

In Wheaton, MO there are dog auctions most weeks where millers come and buy/sell their canine breeding stock. They will sell and or buy ANYthing that is not dead or near dead. A female ready to drop a litter of pups bring premium prices. Last summer/fall there was an auction held in a high school auditorium in Ohio. Same set-up. Before security threw a person off the property (since they rented it it was considered as private property even though tax dollars pay for the schools). There were a minimum of 20 carriages in the parking lot with the horses tied on the other side of the lot No water was evident. Anyhow, as the auction got underway, in pulled trailers DRIVEN by hired drivers who loaded the dogs in crates in the un-air-conditioned trailers/vans. Yes, there certainly are MANY Amish millers who hire non-Amish to assist them in their dirty work by using the machinery they say they do not use.
Are all Amish that way? NO! Some don't breed dogs!!!
Now, can I prove this happened? No, unfortunately, my computer crashed and I lost EVERY single file on it..Would I swear it is the truth? You bet your a** I would. If you drive to Lancaster Co, PA and take a turn down a nicely kept dirt to a clean white farm house, you might find a dog breeder. Dirt roads and clean, white houses seem to be their trademark. Now, ask to see where the puppies and parents are kept. NOT GONNA HAppen!!
You are really lucky if you have or plan to get a puppy that is healthy from such people.
This, of course, is my opinion. It does not reflect the opinion of the adm or any other member on the forum.

yes as i had said before Maybe not all Amish are millers but as whispersmom2 said you will not get to see where their dogs are kept.

Also as to the post where it says Amish are like everyone else i truly do like believe that. I seen a show Oprah did on the Amish and I for one do not live like they do.

Ok ... I give up ... all Amish breed puppies and are strange and don't let people in there houses. It must be true because it was on Oprah television

Oh I forgot... and all pupymills are Amish and Dog auctions are attended by only Amish. Only Amish have bad puppies and bad practices and only Amish use brokers who make websites and lookie there it's an Amish man driving that Big Rig full of pups

Hmmmmm did I forget anything else that might be twisted out of reason.
Let me go knock on a few of my Amish neighbors doors and tell them they aren't supposed to be asking me in and while I'm at it I better tell them to hurry up and open a puppymill because they aren't conforming to a stereotype.Oh wait I'm looking out my window and there are the neighbors children playing with the family dog... I better telll them they aren't supposed to do that because they're Amish and should put that dog in a cage and starve it RIGHT AWAY

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mexican couple just moved in down the lane............well we know how they are

AND ONE MORE THING

Would I recommend buying a dog from an Amish breeder ... Probably not unless I absolutely knew how that family worked things. MY Whole point was the stereotyping. I'm not stupid, I know how he mills work... it's just the twisted perception of it's an AMISH thing. I would be happy to show anybody quite a few non Amish mills in the area. As a matter of fact I can show you a sweet little country home with Mom pop and kids and a sweet dog who is picture perfect nursing a litter of puppies in an upscale rural neighborhood. What you didn't know was these dogs don't really live there. The were brought from a mill on Pick up day. That's a day assigned to have new owners come pick up there sweet little puppies. The set up is done constantly, especially on the high dollar dogs. A sweet house and cute fence with doggie yard and a couple adult dogs. All the pups ferried to this set up a day or two before to mak it look so SWEET

here i'll copy and paste it for you, i'm getting it teeny tiny too.

AmishPuppies.com is designed to allow you to purchase a new puppy from the source known for not only their honesty and simple life style, but for how well they treat the animals in their care.

The Amish depend on their animals, and their animals, (and you), can depend upon them. Their religious beliefs prohibit abuse and admonish them to be good stewards of all animals in their care.

Does this mean that there will never be a problem? Of course not. These are live animals and no one can prevent all health or genetic issues. However, you can be assured that when an issue arises, it will be dealt with in an honest and trustworthy way, that is the mark of the Amish community.

Read this warranty, read the user agreement, understand your responsibility for the animal while in your care. Together we can improve not just the life of your new puppy, but hopefully help lesser kennels begin to live up to the standard set by the Amish.

Buy with confidence. Knowing that the animal you are buying is the exact animal in the picture, (because each animal is micro-chipped), that the genetics, the vaccination program, the care and condition are the standard in animal husbandry, and that any known issues are detailed on the web-site. You can know exactly what you are buying.

Yes of course you are right .

I have some nerve trying to not have people stereotyped. Even worse I have tried to be informative about a tiny bit of Amish puppy selling. Bad me.

I promise to "Shut UP" and not try to explain my views anymore. I will only say something if it has already been verified by Oprah

you know what i did not say if it was on oprah then it is true or right. and i was telling you to shut you when you started referring to a race the amish is not a type of race. no one was sterotyping amish have puppymills caucasians have puppymills blacks have puppy mills and hispanics have puppymills the list goes on and on. i just found it rather odd that the site publically said amish puppies i had never before seen a sight that stated something like that. i am by far through i do not sterotype anyone i am now going to stop posting on my thread before i tell you something that gets me banned!!!!!!!
