There is no post in this thread that said "It's now obvious" no one wants to help! That's a terrible thing to state, no one said any such thing. Again, words being spoken that were never said. We are taking about a dire emergency and why the vet should be the first person called. That's all! Please don't put words out there that were never spoken because another poster will come along read what you just said and go with it. Before you know it this thread will be closed! It happens everytime because people do not read. Bye, I"ve had enough. Hope all your pups remain healthy and happy. P.S. No one called you an idiot or irresponsible. To be honest if it were I and Buddy was shaking like crazy and acting strangely,I would have been off to the vet. Why? Because my first thought would have been he ate something poisonious. Nothing around but you never know. That's me it dosen't mean you were wrong at all. And yes that's YT is here to help other's. I guess like everything else an emergency is different to different people. |

thats right, i never called any one person an idiot.. all im saying is pls be responsible thats all.... |
I can only speak for myself and usually ask for opinions/help if it is a minor situation, such as poop eating. I have asked for opinions/help after seeing a vet and their recommendations not working. For example: Deegan was losing weight and had bad diarreha for days and once I took him to the vet (3 times) and finally got a diagnosis, either vet in the office still didn't give me the proper medication. Deegan weight did stabalize, but he wasn't gaining any back and I was really nervous so I decided to do some research on my own and low and behold I stumbled upon an EPI Yahoo Group. I also found one for Trooper's LS too. And to be honest - those people have been a god send!!! Their the ones who recommended me put Deegan on another med and in two days he gained 3/4 lbs back and is progressing so good!!! Basically it boils down to me kinda losing faith in some of the vets around here. If it weren't for the groups I wouldn't have learned the stuff I needed to to help get my babies back to health. |

I know I'm "new" here....but all I can say is WOW! I've never seen such a rude group of individuals in all my life! I love my dog, try my very best to keep her healthy and happy...that's one of the reasons I joined this board. But, since joining I've seen time and time again where people are made to feel like trash because of a question they ask, the food they feed their dog, how often they leave them, where they take them, etc. It's crazy! I guess it's like parenting, some think they know it all and are perfect. My philosophy is...I do the best I can and LEARN from asking questions. I'm new at this, do not make all the money in the world (therefore cannot afford to spend THOUSANDS in vet bills), but I love my dog and that should be enough! Flame me all you want...I just had to speak my mind and let you know some of you are WAY over the top. |
I think it goes both ways. . . . WE shouldn't start calling each other names and what not. You have to understand both sides. I'm a first time yorkie owner to and if I had a medical problem (not life and death) with my baby I would post it here because there is some very good advice that people give here on YT. And when you are paging your doc waiting for him to respond why not do a quick thread (if you haven't notice people on YT do reply FAST!) . . . BUT for those whos dog is shaking like crazy or choking or whatever . . . I don't understand why they didn't rush to the ER but they might have their own reason. So believe it or not. . . . people can and will post whatever they want. just my opinion. . . |

Obviously, I answered your post before you edited it! Again, what an emergency is to one person does not mean it's the same to another. Everyone on here want's to help in whatever way they can. You know it and so do I. Stop with the nonsence! |

It's not nonsense. It's my opinion and I have a right to have it and state it. I'm not saying anything wrong I'm just saying that it is intimidating to a lot of people when they see threads of people complaining about them posting about their sick dogs and seeking advice. |
all i could say is after almost 10,000 posts from me and plenty others here, i think we have helped alot of people here and still intend to. |

Amen to that Gina. That's what's it's all about. |
I'm on the fence with this one. The economy is bad and some of the newbies are just asking for an opinion. That I don't mind, but when people ask for help then don't follow any advice their given then I get mad. |
Would it be better if these people weren't asking questions at all? I don't look much in the Emergency thread, so maybe I'm missing the posts that are upsetting people so much. BUT, from my limited perspective, it seems to me that as long as people are trying to learn how to care for their pets, they should not be judged. Thor's previous owner told me she went to the vet four times because she didn't understand what reverse sneezing was. I'm not sure why the vets didn't tell her, but she spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars on a question that she could easily have had answered here. So I think it works both ways. Reverse sneezing sounds horribly scary, but usually does not merit a trip to the vets office. Yes, maybe it seems like some people lack common sense, but if that's the case, are they supposed to magically acquire it? If you don't know, ask a question. That's my philosophy. |
