Gina - I have no intention of checking your posts. this is not about you or me. I was merely making a point that I'm sure you have asked questions in the past. And you are more than welcome to find a vet in my area that accepts partial payment. Good luck with that.

Carol - I agree, if you go up to my originial post It includes this "HOWEVER, I do agree that there are lots of cases where you really need to use common sense and recognise when its an emergency."

I think people are getting wrong impression. I am not condoning that people spend endless amounts of time online while their pup should be at the vets, I was merely explaining why I Believe it is happening. Check my original post.

I just hate seeing bashing and name calling going on when people don't have the right to judge. Who knows why people do the things they do when they are in a state of panic. You are not nessessarily in the right frame of mind at the time. (take that video, yes its sick to us, but maybe the owner was recording it for educational purposes or to show the vet what exactly was happening. siezures happen frequently in dogs, and you don't rush your dog to the vet for every single seizure, thats impossible. The dog may have already been on meds, had been to the vet that morning, we just don't know, so how can we jusge? Would I personally video tape it? No. but Who knows what their reasoning is) but not to get off track here

we need to keep doing what we do and that it letting people know that YES that is serious , please call your vet. Theres no need for flaming.

To be honest 30mins isn't that far. My vet is 24mins from my home.
My point being, why waste time on the internet when you could be
driving to a vet! Everyone will have different opinions, that's natural,
these are mine. An emergency does not belong on the internet unless
there is no other recourse. Talking to someone can be very helpful,
your not alone but that only should be IF there is no other choice.
That's not what the OP ment I don't believe. There have been more
and more threads on dire emergencies. That was the topic.

my point is, i dont want to make people wary of posting if it is thier only option...sometimes it is just not possible to contact a vet and in that case YT is probably your best option out there due to all the experienced people...by all means a vet should come first...does anyone get what im saying here? lol

As we see on a thread like this people get very sensitive when it comes to the health of their pets and rightly so..... :D

If you have ANY question concerning the well-being of you dog that may threaten its health in any way it's your responsibility to have a professional look into it These pups are in your care
and they need you to be vigilant in their protection and caring for their health

While a forum can be helpful in answering questions
It is in NO WAY a replacement for getting answers from a Vet

That being said ... I don't want people shying away from posting medical questions because sometimes what you think might not be a potential problem ... someone else may pick up on and tell you what it is

I understand and some have one car and the husband is at work and has the car.......there are exceptions but when you get a dog there are things you must know that will take immediate attention and have something in your mind as to how you would handle it. Every case is different and we are not talking about you and yet I would have a talk with my vet tomorrow about how to handle an emergency when he is not available. If he says go to the one 1/2 hr away, ask him how he can expect that be done when every minute counts.

Oh I see your point and agree. I think some dont have emergency vet access or dont have the resources to take them to an emergency vet. I really dont have a problem with people posting on here except when they say they dont want to spend the money on the vet. I have seen it more times than I can count on my fingers

See that was one of my original points. Many people don't realize that somthing could be very serious with these little babies and so they ask online. No reason to get flamed for it.

ok...im glad you get what im saying lol...money should be something you think about when getting a dog and circumstances do come up which is sometimes inevitable but I have been saving since I knew i was getting my balilee last july for an emergency...thanks chachi :)

I don't think we should be upset with anyone on this thread, we all have strong feelings about saving our yorkies.

If an owner doesen't think their pet having bloody diahrea three-four
time a day, throwing up blood three or four times a day or
their yorkie thrusting itself around on the floor in a seizure is an emergency, than that person does not deserve to be a pet owner. You don't have
to go to college to have common sence. This is an emergency,
go to a vet.
As usuall this thread is being turned around and around dissecting
each and every answer to the bone.
No matter how you put it, an emergency is an emergency.
This has nothing to do with requesting information on your Yorkies health.
The emergency thread, I am sure, was not for diagnosis or mis-diagnosis .
It was ment to be helpfull to all but not in a dire emergency.

I have seen very few people who posted an emergency get flamed. Unless they just didnt want to pay for a vet. Most posters are very sympathetic and givve the op info about care credit and other organizations that will pay for emergency pet care

Sometimes people don't realize it's an emergency and it really is. The other day I posted here about Smokey shaking like crazy and acting strange. I didn't know what to do and it ended up being nothing, but it could have been something big. Or the other times Chip was so sick with vaccine reactions? Is that so wrong that I posted there? Am I an "idiot" or "irresponsible"? No, I think not. I'm just someone who wanted advice from someone who had been there, done that kind of thing.

we don't have an emergency vet clinic in our area either, but i do think we can call our vet after hours.......not sure because i'm in a very small town. your right Ashley about what you said.

some people don't recognize an emergency and they come on here for help. and when you say go to the Vet........then they should do it.

I was mainly talking about this thread, emotions were getting a bit high and name calling was happening, and I'm afraid people will stop seeking information and help for fear of being called names and other hateful things
