I left my information with them and told them if the rescue falls through for some reason either me personally or another rescue will take her so they are going to call me. Here is what i was told from the rescue i contacted:
"i know how sad that little yorkie girl looks in her picture. Rescuers' hearts break just looking at little dogs like her and there are so many. Our dudley is similar. We keep hoping someone will see them for the good dog they are and give them a home just to be in until the end. I don't want to be hard hearted, but this is the dog that the public wants to avoid. They don't want to see her, know about her, ask for her or take her home. Only a rescue person would take this dog and adopt it. And most of us already have at least one dog just like her. Ask deb - she has crazy bailey. I have one eyed one tooth max. Could you take her in?"
i am in tax season, working minimum 12 hours a day which includes weekends. I just have no time and this dog is going to need a lot of attention and love. I will follow through though to see what happens. The fee is $130 but i don't care about that, i just want to see her taken care of. I hardly got any sleep last night, she is just haunting me. I don't understand why they wouldn't tell me the name of the rescue.
thank you so much for the info. I will keep up with this thread, so that if i get any news about her i will post it. If the rescue does not go through please let us know. I have no idea about rescue societies, how they work or what needs to be done. But i want to help whatever way i can. This little girl has really broken my heart. I just don't understand what has happened to people.

Update - The shelter just called me. They can't find which rescue was that called them. There was snow here and some people out so that's why the confusion. Anyway they said they would love to work with the rescue I mentioned. They want to get the little girl out of there as soon as possible. Here is her info. She was a stray, weighs 6 pounds, 5 to 7 years old. She has a detached retina and her eye has to be removed. They are saying the surgery will be $1200. I am still paying off my credit card from vet bills from my beloved yorkie that I lost so that is too much for me right now. Plus I just am not home right now. That baby needs care and love now. I contacted the rescue again to see if they would change their mind about taking her. Can someone help? If someone in Maryland can take her maybe we could take up a collection for the surgery. I just don't know what else to do. I will let you know when I hear from the rescue again.

megansmomma is suppose to be working on something.

I know that she was in contact with:

Yorkie Haven Rescue ~ Yorkie Haven Rescue

Yorkie Rescue Me ~ 717-264-9799 ~ Rescue Me Yorkie Rescue

Maybe it was one of those rescues that the shelter is suppose to be working with....

I will send megansmomma a PM and hopefully she will be on shortly with some news.

So, just trying to understand, the shelter wants to get her out today?

What about the 'other' yorkies?

Talked to the president of the rescue, she is calling them. Problem is, she has no fosters right now so don't know if she can take her. She said the money isn't a problem, it's the foster. I tried to foster for this rescue but was turned down because I sometimes watch my 2 1/2 year old grandson. My son and daughter in law also have a yorkie so my grandson has grown up around them but the rescues are very strict. He doesn't live here but of course I love to watch him and have him visit. Anyway... I will keep you updated....

Please keep me posted. I can donate also. My heart just broke. I also can't get her face out of my mind. Thanks Ginger for the post. Big hugs to all of you.

You're so wonderful - as is everyone here! That little girl needs a home where she can be spoiled stinky. I hope we see a very happy ending here.

How do you become a foster, and who do you call? Can we contact the rescue?

After I got home I tried to call and have only been able to get voice mail of the coordinator , so I have no other info. I am trying to see if they have any restrictions on who can adopt her ( people w/ little children , other dogs etc) but so far no luck , and when I do get someone else ...they keep forwarding me to her voicemail and seem to know nothing else about her , atleast that they are telling me ...very frustrating!

Well I did reach someone , but I didn't get much more info. I was told to try again tomorrow or leave a message ( again). They said she was a stray and her temperament is listed as dull (?) neither he or I know what that means but maybe someone else here does ? He also said he was not sure who could adopt her because she was injured and needed medical , it may put a more stringent rule on who can get her , but again he wasn't certain..I will try again tomorrow.

I think it is a Yorkie Rescue or Small Breed Rescue that has *strict* rules about adopting / fostering to someone with small children....

I don't think this shelter objects to children or not...not sure though.

I think the focus *may* have been to at least get this *one* girl out who needs obviously medical treatment asap for her eye.

But - YES there are other Yorkies still there that DO NEED to be saved as well - So those that can help that would be great! I still would donate the $60 to get them out

Just getting in now to see what is going on this our progress. Just to clarify, I volunteer with Yorkie Have and live in IL but they are based in TX with a few members scattered around the south. We did contact Save a Yorkie and Yorkies Inc and never heard back from anyone. RescueMe gave us a not very nice response and was unwilling but was hopeful when Ging4444 said she had also called.

This is getting confusing because RescueMe told us they were not interested in taking her yesterday. But them I was told by Keri (MissYorkie) that she was working directly with them to get her out today. I am totally confused at this point and have not heard back from her. She said there was a plan in action and would post to update. Now I guess we need to wait for her to let us know what is going on.

As for nobody wanting to rescue this little girl there are people on her willing to take her but we need to get her out of that hell hole!

I'm sorry that I don't have anything more to tell anyone about what is going on with the little girl.
