| I need some Yorkie advice on sleeping I love my dearest Starsky so much. I can't get mad at him to easliy. My husband asked me the other day when will Starsky's sleeping pattern change? I don't know if it ever will or if there is something we can do about it. So I thought I would ask all of you guys!!! Starsky sleeps with us and goes to bed when we do around 10:00 pm. But he always gets up between 5:00 and 5:30 every morning. Sometimes it is as early at 4:00! Week days it is okay at 5:30 because that is when my husband gets up, but on weekends when we want to sleep in, it is still 5:30 or so! I don't have to be at work until 8:00 on weekdays and I wish he would sleep in for me, but I know that will be impossible since my husband is up anyways. He always wants to play with me. Any ideas on what to do. I don't want to kennel him. Thanks all for any advice you may give me. I have used a lot of it already with other issues. You guys are all so great!! | Have you considered a nice loooooooong walk before his bedtime? Or extra hard playtime before bedtime? I've always remembered Yoda sleeping a lot, guess we lucked out! |

| I think they're kinda like us - they get used to a routine e.g., 5:30 when your husband gets up and so that's when his "alarm" goes off! However, I know with my older Schnauzer - he sleeps till we get up, so that may happen with your little guy...........eventually! |

| I cannot really help because I have mine in their very own, cushioned kennels where they sleep soundly from 8pm-7:30am, when I come get them to go potty. I do understand why many people like having their babies sleep with them but I cannot figure out how it is accomplished without interruptions throughout the night. Since I am older, I have to get up myself not to mention turning over and over. My two will wake up at the slightest noise, I think it would be disaster time for me to even try it. I miss them though, it would be nice to have their warm little bodies with me at night. |

| Thats funny because my 3 never are ready to get up when I do at 6:00am. They stay in bed until after my husband gets up a 1/2 hour later and look all dreary eyed like why did you get up so early! On the weekends they will stay in bed as long as we do! We do however take them on a 40-45 minute walk after dinner every nite maybe that helps, I don't know or maybe they are just like people and some like to sleep in and some don't! Mine also go to bed way before me too like around 8:00pm so I must have some lazy puppies, huh? |

| Mine sleep when I do so I cant be a very good help. But when mine are hyper I either take them on a walk before bed or try to do some kind of activity that will really tire them out so I dont have any problems with bedtime You might try that. Good Luck

| I agree that they are creatures of habit, OR creatures of however we train them to be. Daisy liked to wake up at 4:00. I would take her to potty, but then I put her in her kennel and let her whine until she went back to sleep, or until 6:00. THat lasted a couple of weeks. Now, knock on wood, she sleeps from about 9:15 or 9:30 is to 6:00 ish. We play hard, and she plays hard with her big sis, Sophie. Now, thankfully, she & Sophie are on the same sleep schedule and the adults are FINALLY sleeping thru the night It's not easy to listen to them whine, but I do believe it teaches them that 4:00 a.m. is not playtime. Good luck! |

| Sleeping Samson sleeps on the bed with us, but usually wakes us about 6a.m. I usually get up and take him to potty and put him back in bed. He usually goes right back to sleep. I'm hoping that as he gets older, his bladder will also sleep until 8 or so. |

| I am lucky my three will sleep as long as I do. Maddie would stay in bed all day I think. Rudy sleeps on the bed too, but Polly is to small so she sleeps in her bed by the big bed. When she gets bigger I will have three in the bed.

| hefner and Chai will pretty much sleep as long as I do but Ava wakes up at 5am. I just get her out of her playpen and put her in bed with me and she goes back to sleep. She usually pees on her wee wee pad before she whines for me to get her out. I find that two will play with each other and not bother me if they are up and I want to sleep longer so I guess this is your excuse to get a second yorkie!!lol |

| Hi, I feel your pain, because ours will go to bed around 10pm, but still want to wake up around 5:30 to 6am. On week days, that's ok because we work, but on weekends it is troublesome, but she does have to go potty at that time too. Millie does not sleep with us, but in her playpen. so on weekends, we will take her out and then put her back in the playpen for another hour, until we are ready to get up. |

I Love Thor Donating Member | It's so funny to find out that there are people out there having the same problems as many other people...well, not funny, but kind of reassuring. Thor has started to make a habbit of going to bed when I do, around 11:00 or 12:00, waking up to pee at 2:00am and then getting back up at 6:45, or 7:00. This is such a drag for me because I don't have to be up until much later, and he whines and whines to go play with my roommates dog. He won't go back to sleep. I am not getting a good nights rest! So I just wanted to say, that it's good to know I'm not in the "sleepless boat" by myself, it sounds like there are a lot of yorkie owners with this same issue. |

| Amazing to hear everyone else talk about this sleeping issue. I have had my pup for a full week now and she is about 13 weeks old. I keep Mitzee in her playpen at night with a wonderful suede bed, but she still will wake me up 2 or 3 times a night whinning loudly. I wanted to know when she would start sleeping all night long. My husband is starting to get aggravated.
