I won't take any chances with my two yorkie puppies. We put a low step-over height gate in our front door. (All other doors lead to fenced yard or garage). So far it has worked out great. The 21" high metal gate is held in place with pressure. Meanwhile we do work on "wait" using the door leading to the garage. Better to be safe than sorry.

I am really feeling so much better since talking about it and reading everyone's advice. I guess this morning I was convinced that I had verbally abused my little baby and who knows.... now he would end up with a nervous twitch and have to see a puppy psychiatrist b/c I am such a bad mom. All those feelings are gone and the nervous twitch hasn't developed yet so I think we are ok.

Kisses to Bentley for being so good and not trying to get outside when the kids arrived home from school this afternoon. Momma is still working on the baby gate though to make sure it doesn't happen again!

Hi "Katylou" -- I really like the sound of this better than a tall baby gate b/c I have a 6 year old. Do you recall where you may have gotten it?

Or anyone else ever heard of this and know where I could get one?

Baby gates are great..... I use one on the front door. We live on the second floor , and Suzi always wants to go out and greet everyone who comes over. She won't go down the stairs though, however,I am scared to death that she is going to fall off the deck. If you have never used a stern voice before to disipline your baby, then he probably did become a little stressed, and vomit. However, it was a safety issue, and you had to. Don't feel bad .

I would definetly use the baby gate. Better to be safe then sorry.

I have a normal, hooking baby gate across the exit of my front porch - but I just bought one of the "pressure", short baby gates to put across the doorway to my bedroom. It's short enough for me to step over, but the babies can't get a running start to jump over it because of my narrow hallway.

(They were going to potty in my BEDROOM, but were missing the pee pee pad by about 3 inches

Marley does the exact same thing!

When I say "No!" he doesn't stop running. I am SO scared he is going to get hit by a car. Well, lately when he is in the backyard and I want him to come inside I say "Come here Marley", then I stick out my hand with a treat. He has caught on to this and comes running to me then goes in side.

So, today my dad was leaving the house, and Marley bolted though the front door. My dad was calling and calling for Marley to come back, but Marley just looked at him and ran. I came out and called for Marley I also stuck out my hand (I had no time to grab a treat, so I had to pretend). As soon as Marley saw me stick out my hand he came running towards me. I was soo happy he came back!

We have also been working on the command "Stay", this way when the door is opened he knows he cannot just bolt.

Maybe this is something you can try.
