And do not feed any food or treats from the NUTRO brand, this brand has proven to cause illnesses mild to severe for many dogs, my puppy included. Also it's smart to purchase a little bell for your furbaby. The bell is really helpfull so you always know where your puppy is and to help keep them from being stepped on. You'll see what I mean when she comes, they always find a way to sneak near your feet when you have no clue! Congrat's again!
Thats a great idea! I never thought of that! thanks!

keep nutri-cal on hand, this is important. i didn't think i would need it, but i needed it many times when i first got milu. it's for when their blood sugar drops too low because a lot of yorkies are picky eaters and do not get enough food/calories.

i took milu to puppy class, and took her to puppy socials for socialization. you should look it up online and find out more info about it.

let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks for all the wonderful tips! What kinds of tearless shampoo do you use? Like johnson baby shampoo? Yes nutri-cal is def on my list. They also said that yogurt and honey works too. Is that ture?

you are very welcome!
i use puppy tearless shampoo, i bought it at petsmart. it's called perfect coat studio. you don't have to buy that brand, and you also need a separate shampoo for head and body, i use it because the oatmeal shampoo i got for milu isn't 'tear-less'.
yogurt and honey probably will work as well. i didn't use it for milu. i just used the nutri-cal...i was stubborn at first, i thought if i just feed her regularly, i wouldn't need nutri-cal, so i didn't even buy it!!! but yah~ you need it! lol

to YT! I'm still new around here and a brand new mommy too!!! We just got our baby girl Thursday 22nd! We renamed her Fancy but her name from the breeder was LouLou - similiar to what you have picked out. I wish I had advice to give but I'm still learning myself. If you have some specific questions use the search box and if you still don't find what you are looking for start a new thread. Everyone is very nice and sooo knowledgeable around here! Get ready to fall head over heels in love!!!!

That is great to know! I've order some oatmeal shampoo over the internet for my baby already. Hopefully her skin is going to be okay with that. Thanks so much for all your wonderful help!

another thing that i will suggest you start thinking about is if you want your baby to sleep with you on your bed. personally, i would really suggest that you don't. while it is REALLY cute to have your baby sleep with you. it is really a pain in the ass too. especially if you have a small dog, then it's even harder. now milu insists to sleep on the bed, which means i dont' sleep well, because i am always waking up to check on her, because i get so worried that i will crush her. but i have started the habit and now it is really hard to break it.

oh...and the potty training method of course. if you want to pad train, or have the puppy go outdoors exclusively for potty.

Know you can't wait to bring that furbaby home, I knited a blanket that stays in my dogs bed, he loves to use it as a pillow, mine doesn't like toys, nor treats that much, at least not this one, there all different so we'll be waiting to hear on your furbaby's habits.

Default So many question for this new owner. Help Please!

I'm planning to have my puppy sleep on her own bed. Like you've mention - I dont' want to be waking up every few hours to check up on her to make sure she's okay. And I also don't want her wondering off or falling off the my bed in the middle of the night.

And about the crate training. I am planning to do pee pads & outside. Is there one that I should start first or should I start doing both right away? I was thinking about pee pads and when she get warm enough I wanted to start training her to go outside. It is going to confuse her?

I have a playpen for her. I'm usually gone from 8am - 5:30pm Monday - Friday. Should I have her run loose in her Playpen or should I have her sit in her crate all day until I get home. I have a schedule for her. . .and here it is. For the time in I'm at work I'll have my brother or sister help me with taking her out and potty and feeding her until I get back.

What do you guys think?

About FOOD. I also read somewhere that I should leave food out for her all day long. But if I leave food out all day for her wouldn't she poop and pee all over her play pen? Should I wait to see how her eating habit it first?

Cage Water Bottle - the kinds used for ferrets and rabbits. Does anybody use it? I've seen on yorkie owner that had taught his yorkies how to use it and it seems so easy and clean. Does it work for anybody else? Is there any tricks to it?

Talking about food what brand would you recommed?

So any questions . . . if anybody can help I'll greatly appreciate it!

I'm so sorry about your lost. . and to an OWL? Scooby must have been a little guy. =[ . . . and spoiling your new baby....I'm sure! I'm spoiling my baby so much already and I don't even have her yet. I've already spent close close to $300 on her. I have pretty much everything I need except the food. That I'll wait until a week or so before she comes home.

that's a really good idea. was hard for me though, i let milu come sleep on the bed the first time she whined and wanted to come sleep with me. BAD IDEA!

i can give you additional info. if you still need help.

i would let her run around the pen, she will sleep for the most part, and when she is up, she can walk around and play with her toys in the pen. i don't like the idea of crate training, i never needed to use it. but there are people that think it's a great idea. i think you should read more about crate training and make up your own mind about what you decide to do. i think crate training is mean, that is why i didn't do, and i didn't need to do it. but a lot of people believe that it is not mean. so you might want to research and see what you think about it.

What do you guys think?

wow. lol i think it's good. but i guess you will decide if you want to crate her or not.

About FOOD. I also read somewhere that I should leave food out for her all day long. But if I leave food out all day for her wouldn't she poop and pee all over her play pen? Should I wait to see how her eating habit it first?

you would want to see her eating habit first. for milu, i HAVE to leave food out all the time. she barely eats anything. as for potty training, since you are going to pee pad train her. you would leave a pee pad inside her play pen. (that's what i did with milu)

Cage Water Bottle - the kinds used for ferrets and rabbits. Does anybody use it? I've seen on yorkie owner that had taught his yorkies how to use it and it seems so easy and clean. Does it work for anybody else? Is there any tricks to it?

i don't think this is a good idea. i have bunnies, and i do not use the water bottle for them either. with the water bottle, it's impossible to clean the feeding part. (the part with the rolling ball inside) the bacteria grows in there, and there is no way to clean it...so it is NOT healthy for the animals. much better to have a water dish that you can clean frequently.

Talking about food what brand would you recommed?

i feed milu nature's variety. i think i already sent you the link to the website. there are many good foods out there, and it will take a while to learn about nutrition!

just don't get commercial grade food, it's very bad for doggie's health in my opinion.http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-petfoods.html

So any questions . . . if anybody can help I'll greatly appreciate it!
hope this helps!

Thumbs up you are going to be a very good mommy!

lucky doggie!!!

you are going to be a great mommy, you haven't even gotten your dog, and you're doing so much to be prepared for your little baby!

i never owned a doggie before milu, she is my first doggie. i was so nervous before i got her. i did a lot of research online and i read many books to try to prepare for her.

i didn't join this site until a month after i got milu, and didn't start participating until a couple months after that.

i would have learned a lot and gotten a lot of support if i had started participating earlier. so i think you are very smart for starting right now!

(i did ok though, because i went to puppy school with milu and i learned a lot, even though milu was the one that got the diploma)
