I am sorry to ask such an odd question. Not only is this my first yorkie it is my first inside puppy. I am crazy about my little guy and want to do everything right. OK-when he goes peepee his belly gets "yucky", so I am washing his little belly all the time. Should his belly be shaved or what should I do? Thanks for your help Phyllis

Is his hair really long around that area? A Yorkie boy's pee is sticky, we usually just wipe it with a kleenex after my Yoda pees, but he has a short hair cut all around, so basically he doesn't pee on his hair at all...

His hair is long and it gets very nasty. I dont think a kleenex would work at this time. Maybe I should cut his belly hair. He is 13 weeks old, 2lbs14oz. today. So he is just a baby.

Hi, you could cut an area like a circle plus cut the area right at the end of his wee wee. Leave the hair long on the sides and no one will know the difference. i have a female who had babies and i didnt want to cut her hair much so i just cut the belly hair all the way from end to end, and left the sides long.

You may need to clean up at first, but as they get older, they start doing the balancing act. here's what you get to look forward to, using Archie as a model: 1) the "three-legged"--one back leg goes up, and Archie stands on three legs and pees against the wall; 2) the "frog"--on two front legs, with both hind legs slightly off the ground, very popular on ice, or when there is no wall nearby; and 3) my favorite, the "cartwheel"-- standing on left front leg and left back leg, with his stomach flat against the wall. May I add that he's poo'd like this too? I'm just waiting for the day when he stands on his one front paw with the rest of his paws in the air and the musical number kicks in. To answer your question, though, I'd say cut the belly hair!

| Ranger had this problem when he was younger so we just trimmed his "winky" hair. Now he cleans the mess himself and we don't have to deal with it . His belly hair has never been too long to get peed on, so if it's a problem I would suggest trimming it. Good Luck!!

If the hair that grows off of the tip of his "willy" is long, cut it right down short. That way if he "drips" it will just go on the floor and not on his tummy My mother in law has a male whos tummy got yucky when he went pee pee,so I cut all of the hair off of his "willy".Now his tummy stays clean when he pee´s

The belly hair on a male should be trimmed, i shave all the hair up to his belly bottom(yes, they have one, when you shave it you will see it ) I also trim the hair on his (willie? hahahahha) But you can also wash that area daily with a damp cloth.

LOL...Oscar is 4.5 months and has been groomed 3 times so far...man his hair grows fast! Each time, they shave the hair around his "hiney" area to prevent annoying "dingle-berries" and also shave the hair around and off of the end of his "tally-wacker"...so funny what we call these things! I have laughed til I hurt at some of the comments on this board!!! I love it. Unless you flip Oscar over, you would never know his belly is shaved and he smells much better now! There is nothing worse than picking your baby up and getting a handful of sticky goo under his belly...yukkk!!!

Thank you all for the great advice. You are all sooo funny. Gizmo is 3mos. old and picking him up and getting a handful of yucky is a problem. SO now I guess he will get his belly shaved. Oh no, I think he heard me. Phyllis
