You should NEVER scold a dog for an accident. By doing that, In his mind, he is being punished for releiving himself. NOt the fact that he did it on the floor. By doing that your teaching your dog that its not okay to pee, And after a while, he will start holding his pee until he cant even make it to the door to ask to go out. . Negative reinforcment should NEVER EVER EVER be used in training. Any kind of training.

Good luck with potty training. I will most likely take quite awhile. Yorkies are notorius for having problems housetraining. Hope things work out.

Its soo sad that people talk about how negative reinforcement towards your puppy/dog wont help the situation and will only make it worse.....


WHEN SOME of the same people that said that didn't think about what they wrote and didn't help the situation with their negative comments.

Everyone does have their bad days, and I too agree that you did realized the error. Don't give up and your furbaby will learn potty training when given the right training. I know Petsmart has been having free potty training classes recently... so call up your local Petsmart and sign up for the class (if any).

I know others will give you a more positive information on potty training. How about going to the training section of YT and ask for helpful tips or search for pottying tips.

thanks everyone. Charlie and I are doing ok today. I put him on a schedule now. He has been good and I have more time to play with him. I am happy. I hope he is too.

please don't beat yourself up and there are alot of people guilty of this, not that it is right. It is better to learn from our mistakes and to understand when we make them.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Housebreaking can be awfully frustrating ( we are in the process too ) Just breath really deep and know it'll get better. Have you tried crate training him? Good Luck keep at it.

That is a good one. When I first had Suri and she had an accident, a friend told me to push her nose in it. I told her why would I punish her if I should have taken her to the pad 5 minutes ago.

You are not a bad mommy, i love my babies so much and all three of them are potty trained, they Never go in the house they will whine and cry if the door is closed for them to go to the backyard! Well, they dont have accident because they did get spanked when they went in the house. of course he will be alittle sad but he will get over it! Some lady said that it doesnt teach them well it taught all three of mine!! and they are happy see peas
