Yorkie and Motorcycles

Please know that I understand how you all enjoy biking. My husband and I did, too. At least up until October 12, 2008. That's the day a pickup truck pulled out in front of us on the highway. That's the day my husband and I were nearly killed. That's the day his brand new helmet cracked and he sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. That's the day that I was told if my 43-year-old husband lived, he would be in a nursing home for the remainder of his life. That's the day he went into a coma and slowly emerged over the next six months. That's the day I received a less severe traumatic brain injury, but would eventually lose my job as a television producer and host because of it.

Our lives are full of doctor appointments and therapy. But if Sydney would have been with us, she would have been killed and an even bigger sadness would be in my heart. There is no safe way to ride with a dog on a motorcycle. In my car, Sydney rides in a car seat, safely buckled down.

Please know that I am not trying to offend anyone. I am just providing though-provoking information.
