Who else walks their Yorkie in this bitter cold? Oh my god! It is soooooooooo cold out(13degrees) and I have to walk Buddy four times a day for at least 15-20mins and he could care less if it's so cold. I can't stand it. This morning I couldn't breath and he's sniffing around for the right place to pee:( Please spring come soon. I don't know how much more I can take of this bitter cold!:cold smil I envy those of you who use pee-pads:thumbup: |
cold weather  poppy uses pee pee pads at night but during the day she does her stuff outside :) she does not care how cold it is , i just make sure she is well wrapped up in a snuggly jumper ;) , the babies love it , we dont x |
well it is -21 (Celsius) (-5 F) here and we say that is just TOO cold- Layla hates walking anyways... i'm hoping it will warm up to around -8 shortly so we can go for a much needed walk! |
It's 22 degrees in New Jersey right now. I don't use pee pads, but I have a fenced in yard. I still have to carry Matilda out because she's too tiny to get down the back steps. She starts shivering as soon as I pick her up to go outside - she knows she's going to be cold. Once out there they love to run around. They also go for a walk once or twice a day. I can't wait for Spring either. |
Don't you just hate that mess. Zoey will do the same thing. Toby on the other hand gets out and gets down to business...whether it's cold or hot. Although, I don't do the long walks other than summer or spring. When it's cold or nasty outside it's a quick run tothe back or to the front to do their business. |
I stayed at my daughter's house over the weekend due to another snow storm, which turned out not to be too bad and she has a fenced in yard. It was prue joy to open the slider and let Bud out. He slid down the icy steps with joy running around, free, on the ice and snow. Nutty dog that he is. I miss that freedom of not walking since I sold our house and moved into a condo. Buddy belongs up in Alaska with Mike and his gang. He would fit right in! |
Poor you....lol. Buddy has the girth to enjoy the cold. The worst part of this cold is the black ice that appears when you least expect it. I almost went butt up last night walking the pooches. |

Is 60 degrees considered bitter cold? Seriously, I don't know how you guys do it. |
NO walks here! Wrigley doesn't even like to step foot outside, but does because she wants to see what her sisters are up to, but she wants to be picked up and held the whole time! The other two do their business and come back, they like the nice warm house! |

Got you beat. I already fell on my butt and slid down a small slope with Buddy pulling me like a damn sled dog! I hope no one saw me. Leg's up and all. I must have looked halarious:( |
It is going to be in the teens in the morning here Friday and Saturday. Very unusual for Georgia. Thankfully I bought Bax a jacket at Target. He hates cold weather so he will do his business and be ready to go back in but I'm dreading it. |
Carol I remember you telling me about that one. LOL..girl I ain't laughing at ya...laughing with ya. I used to have the yard sectioned and fenced when I had my lulu so it was easy to just open the back door and let her out to do her business. But when she had found that small hole and gotten out and was hit by the car the anger took me. Stupid me in a rage kicked and hacked down two sides of the fence...so alas the yard is not fully fenced anymore. I wouldn't have trusted it anyhow being as Toby and Zoey are the same size she was. So either way I would still be out walking in the cold. I do miss that freedom of opening the door and telling her to go potty and not having to step out in the yard. |

LOL maybe to you it is:p Stick your head in the freezer for about 5mins and then you can REALLY feel what cold is. Keep warm for all of us who are experiencing the bitter cold of winter. |
At this point carol I know we would kill for 60 degrees. It's so cold it takes your breath away. |

That sounds like heaven, 60 degrees. One can only imagine being warm in the ray's of the sun again. Something to look forward to somewhere down the road. How far down is another story:p |

spring cannot come quick enough. |

Yes, I can understand that not being fair. You poor thing, having to stay out even longer caring for your horses. Stay warm somehow and just pray for spring to come ASAP. |
Heck no. Ellie is carried out to do her business and carried back in. If she takes too long, we come in without her doing it. Apparently it was 15 below not terribly far from here last night.:( |
Roxie will go out as fast as she can and when she's done she comes flying for the door!! After seeing someone throw a glass of water up in air on the news the other day and watching it freeze mid air, I really don't want Roxie out for too long so no walks here right now. Just hurry up and do your biz and get back in.:cold smil:snow: |
I have a fenced in yard so I let my guy's run outside for a bit till they want in. I shovel the back patio so that they wont be in deep snow. I also put their jackets on them when its too cold and windy. Jeter can't tolerate the cold too long, he is 2 pounds 12 ounces and if it is windy out, he actually has been blown over trying to pee outside:eek: He hates the snow too, so he only stay's in the shoveled area. He is fast to do his business and get back in the house. He loves our fire place and will warm up in front of it;) I do not walk him during the winter Yumi Yasha is a bit bigger than Jeter, she is almost 5 pounds and she will play a bit longer outside with Axl than Jeter but she still gets cold fast too. She is picky were she potties so she takes a bit longer finding the perfect spot:rolleyes: She will go on a short walk to the end of our block every now and then but she stops at a certain spot and then you end up caring her home. Axl, who is an 8 pounder, is a whole diffrent story. He could care less if its freezing out, he loves being outside to run and bark at every thing. He goes off all over the yard jumping in the snow drifts, its funny watching him . He even likes to eat the snow:rolleyes: last night I had to let him out at 12:30 and he would not come back in, It took him about 20 minutes to come in the house:mad: I was so dang cold and I just had my robe and slippers on and had to go outside and trick him to come in. He also still likes his walk around the block and could possibly go for a longer walk if you want to be outside yourself. Yesterday my oldest son did not have school so he took him on a walk 3 diffrent times. He said Axel did not walk, he ran for the most part. |
When I think about Jeter being blown over while peeing I just have to smile. How adorable. |
Pao loves it too :( We just came in...it is -17 celsius...brrrrrr I am still feeling the pain from the cold on my face. The problem is Pao looooveessss to walk and he will stare at you until you bring him out every single day and I feel like a bad Mommy if I don't. Few weeks ago, when there was a snowstorm...we walked too on those days..I could barely open my eyes with the snow hitting my face and he was like Mommy hurry up..let's go let's go! |

Twinkle loves nothing more than running around a muddy field chasing her ball while the rest of us stand around freezing to death.......rain however is another story, if there's the slightest moisture in the air she wont budge from the house:rolleyes: It rained all day yesterday and Twinkle held her pee from 6.30am until 3.30pm when she finally whined at the door to be let out - she literally fell out of the door in her desperation and was weeing before we even got to the grass! As soon as she was done she shot straight back into the house. xxx xxx |
