| wanting to adopt another yorkie, but have concerns Hi, we adopted a female yorkie about 6 months ago and we wanted to add another to the family. Lillie is very active, but loves to snuggle as well. We have noticed that she tries to show dominance with another female yorkie. She lays on her and barks at her to try to get the other female yorkie to play. She does mark her spots outside, but not inside. I need some advice on adding another yorkie. Should we try for a male? I have heard that if two yorkies are going to fight, it will be 2 females. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!! |

| From past experience I've found mixing two of the same sexes isn't the greatest.

| I got my male (max) after I had Ivy (girl) and it worked well. They just love each other I would take your girl to meet any dog before you take them home, just to see how they get along. Best of luck to you, and if you find one don't forget to post !!!!!!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have 3 female yorkies and a female pom and 2 of the yorkies pick on the other but nothing horrible. Then those 2 play/fight all the time. Then they all snuggle together, so I don't know which is better or if it's more based on the temperment of the dogs themselves.

| My three girls get along really well even though Mikki 'The Menace' pesters Maggie, Minnie and Maximus constantly... It sounds as if they are all going to eat each other in the next minute but do not try to get them apart... it is one barking and howling until they are together again. Maggie has a talent to get locked behind bathroom and pantry doors and you should see and hear the two other girls when that happens... (about 2 to 3 times a day...LOL) |
