| We are new to yorkies! So much to learn! I have never posted to a forum before, and computers dont seem to like me either so this should be interesting! We just got a 2 yr old supposedly full breed yorkie from my husband's niece that looks like she has shnauzer in her (hmmm...i think that makes her a snorkie!) but she mated with a maltese and I am horrified at what the puppies will look like, let alone all the horror stories I am reading about 2 am c-sections on the internet. I just want my Princess to be healthy and the pups too. I am not too sure of this breeding thing, we had puppies once with our chihuaha and everything went fine, but it looks like so much can go wrong. I love love love my new dog, but i think I am not very happy with my hubbys niece. Or the breeder she bought it from who gave her papers. How did no one suspect anything until we took her to our groomer? I wish I knew how to post pics and all that, but for now I will just have to type, lol! |

| Welcome to YT and the wonderful world of Yorkies. I would read all you can, especially on whelping, in case of emergencies. If your not quesy you can help with some of the problems that arise. It can be a scary process but very rewarding.

| Welcome to YorkieTalk Welcome to YT! You have come to the right place to get your questions answered. Do you know when your little darlin' "did the deed"? It will be important to know so that you can plan ahead. You will need to have her Xrayed between 50 days and 55 days (that's the range I use anyway, others may have different ideas) so that you will know how many and how big the pups are. I am sure that you will have lots of questions as things progress, so please post them in the Breeder's section to be sure that someone familar with breeding will see your questions and reply. Again, Congratulations! I know the breeding isn't something you are happy about, but.... it's done and unless there is a serious health risk to mom that would lead to a spay/abortion you are going to be having pups. Start doing some independent research and start looking for prospective moms and dads for the new pups. |

| How much does your yorkie weigh? Some yorkies have schnauzer cuts, which makes them look like schnauzers. If it's full blooded yorkie and it bred with a maltese, they will be morkies, and those are adorable, and you shouldn't have a hard time selling them at all. Would love to see pictures of your yorkie |

| Hi there and welcome to YT ! Everyone here is supportive , and i hope you will find YT most helpful. Looks like your going to have puppies soon. Very cute. You got me very curious about your Yorkie/mix. Maybe someone could help you post pictures. Right now the most important this is to keep the mom to be as happy and healthy as possible.

| Update on Princess (mated with maltese)...husband's idea to mate her with friend's dog(maltese) which they did on 1-10-08. Princess looks ALMOST IDENTICAL to MSCAT's dog! Papers say yorkie, groomers say not full blood. What do I know? (niece still has papers, says she cant find them) I wish I knew how to upload her pic to computer. Papers don't mean much to me as I have no intention of showing or selling pups. I am giving the pups to people I know so that I know they will be cared for. (i may keep one ) Princess weighs 10lbs and is 13 inches from shoulders to base of tail. That might be a bit stocky for a true yorkie. But do I care? Nope! I am madly in love with her! She is getting spoiled tho, so I need to stop letting her call the shots. I just want to do right by her. Thanks for the welcome all! It may take me awhile to navigate around this forum, it looks like a TON of valuable info is here! |
