I am SOOO upset that I'm glad the stores are closed right now because I want to go to a Petsmart store and tell off their grooming staff, even if they are not at fault here in Fla. I just need to let out what I feel about SUCH negligence. One thing I'm doing, though, is not shopping there anymore. I heard from a friend that Petsmart donates/supports puppy mills to have more customers. I'll try to find out if it's true, but in the interim I'm sticking with Petco and others. |
My heart just breaks for you :( I cannot express how sorry we are for your loss. Please accept our condolences for the loss of your sweet precious baby. Rest In Peace sweet baby |
That really is sad-- and anybody who works with dogs for a living ought to realize that huskies as a breed can have a very high prey-drive when they are around smaller animals. It isn't their fault-- it's how they are-- and I've heard multiple stories over the years of huskies injuring or killing smaller pets in their households. The fact that somebody who is in the animal-care business would be ignorant of that AND ignore warnings from a dog's owner is really disturbing. This is why I take Penny in to be groomed so rarely, to be honest. :/ I work at an animal hospital, and sadly, over the years I have seen a LOT of injuries and illnesses caused by irresponsible groomers. Back before I moved out west, we even had a family whose Yorkie was killed when a groomer left a dryer on a plastic crate for too long. It's really terrifying for me to leave Penny at a groomer knowing full well the kind of things that can happen there. |
Oh my HEAVENS - I do not even know what to say. I think I would just about kill the workers at that Petsmart...I mean...I would LOSE IT. Totally, totally LOSE IT. My heart is just sooo broken for you, oh my gosh...this is such a terrible and totally devastating thing that happened to your poor sweet baby  May she Rest In Peace and I hope you sue the PANTS off Petsmart!!!!!!!!!!    |
I am so so very sorry for your loss!!:cry: But I would say get legal advice!!! |
Un-freaking-believable! I am so terribly sorry that you have had to experience such a tragic loss. It's uncalled for, and I truly hope you are compensated in some way, although nothing will replace your baby it IS the least that they can do. I hope that you raise a big stink about this! They should pay dearly! |
how horrible. :eek::mad::confused: |
I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet little girl. I agree with everyone else, contact a lawyer and sue them. There is absolutely no excuse as to why that husky got to the yorkie. I am not sure of the rules for Petsmart grooming, but I know with Petco you are not allowed to have more than one dog out at a time unless they are on the grooming tables. Again I so sorry for your loss, it should have never happened. Please take some type of legal action against them so this won't happen to anyone else. |
I'm so sorry...I'm just horrified about this. What a tragedy for your little girl and you and I can't even imagine the anger your must feel. I don't understand how this Husky even have any contact with your baby. That never should have happened and Petsmart should be held responsible for it. Get a good attorney!!!! |
Oh my God, that is truly horrifying! I am so terribly saorry for your awful loss and consequent situation. To lose a loved one is devistating enough but then to have to fight for your rights with the people who're responsible for that death is unforgivable. I am so sorry. I hope and pray you will get justice and peace of mind. Please know we are thinking of you. Jess :heart to |
I am so sorry for you and the loss of Bella. I agree with what all of the others have so far said. Get a lawyer asap. And also that the employees of each store are probably told by corporate not to admit any sort of guilt on their part as well as to stonewall you to the point where you will give up calling, going to the store, etc. To accomplish anything at this point, you need a lawyer. God bless you and wish the best of luck to you and suing the asses off of PetSmart. Just because they are such a large chain does not mean that they are infallible and guiltless. I wish you the best. :hearts6: |
Oh what a nightmare... They are COMPLETELY responsible and you need to speak to anyone you need to to make sure they compensate you Of course there is no replacing your dog But they need to be held responsible not only for you but so that this horror never happens again |
I am sorry for your loss . You are in my thoughts . |

So sorry, poor little soul. Petsmart was here in the Uk and their pet dept, conditions were so appalling that Animal Rights did demonstrations which cought the media's attention. There was so much bad press about them, that they suddenly changed to Pets at home. They deny they are the same company!!. I have one near me and I go in ever so often to check out their pets they sell. They too have a vet on the premises. |
Oh, my heart is just breaking for you!!!!!!!:unlove: I don't know what to say except that such a tragedy certainly could have been avoided if only proper attendance had been given to the pets being groomed. I'm so sorry for your loss. |

Julie, I hope you post again & see how much support you have here on YT |
My husband is a lawyer. IF I were you, like you said before about others having this happen: I'd start a CLASS action lawsuit. There are many good firms that can do this for you!! When I take my baby there because she is fully grown @ 2lbs and very little I let her walk on a lease but never let her approach the larger dogs. I'd die if anything ever happened to Lexie. I'd make them pay!!! Inquire into it and try and get intouch with everyone that has had problems like this occur. I groom my own babies because they are so small. So sorry for your lost. |
I am so sorry! APPALLING! Here is a link to what happend to my friend at petsmart grooming. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...-grooming.html Prayers from MN coming your way and hope you get justice for your baby! |
I'm so so sorry for your loss and for the circumstances. I pray for you to have the strength to deal with it all. |
Julie, I am so sorry you have lost your precious Bella in such a horrible ordeal. Like everyone else here, I agree that you should sue. Do any of the other posters/members have ideas of how we can help bring public awareness to this tragedy to help prevent it from happening again? Many of us would be willing to write letters, send emails, etc. but please guide us to where they should be sent (not only to Petsmart, but other areas to bring public awareness, as well as alerting all grooming or pet handling facilities). |
I am so sorry for your loss. This is so tragic. I would surely look into pursuing legal action...My heart is breaking for you. Thoughts n prayers coming your way. |
I am so sorry...i hate petsmart too! I had a similar ordeal with the Petsmart where I live here in Nash Tn. I took my Yorkie there when she was a very small pup. I only needed a few things done to her considering she was so small the basic's nails, bath, & maybe a few trim of hairs like I said she was still small! Being I am a first time owner of a dog I wasn't sure what I was suppose to do as for as nail trimming, ear hair, etc. I couldn't stand the fact that I would have done something wrong on my own and hurt my baby.. So I decided to take her to Petsmart. When I walked in I should have known something wasn't right, the workers there seemed so unprofessional! There was one dog getting its ear hair trimmed, and she was yelping, now I don't know if its suppose to be this way or not, but again being a first time owner I asked the woman "Is that dog ok?". She informed that the dog always done that and it was normal. I thought well they are groomers... I should have went with my gut feeling and walked back thru the door I came in. I explained to the woman what I wanted. she told me to leave "Madea" and come back in 2 hrs to pick her up. After I left I ran a few errands but something wasn't feeling right...after about an hour of kicking the feeling around , just decided to call and tell me that I was on my way back. The person that answered the phone told me ok that Madea was ready. When I went inside to get Madea I thought I was going to pass out! They had my baby on the FLOOR PLAYING with something that was suppose to be a toy, in a PILE OF DOG HAIR! other DOGS HAIR.... she handed her to me and they had put a bow in the top of her hair, the bow they used was the rubberband type, they had this bow so TIGHT on my Madea's head that when I went to touch the bow Madea pulled away from my hand and yelped which told me it was entirely too tight! I asked the woman why did they put that bow in, considering I didn't ask for one? She stated that all Yorkies wear bows! Again I said I didn't ask for one... The next thing this woman did was the WRONG thing for her to do! She reached out and RANKED the bow out of my dogs head!:mad::mad:... Madea yelped and when I looked she had a bald spot where that bow was! That was it for me, I kindly handed Madea to my husband, and I showed her how it felt to have hair ripped out of her head! Yes that move landed me a nice trip to the Metro Court house but I would do it again! when I went to court I told the judge what happened & that I would do it again! Needless to say I don't go to Petsmart anymore! and I bet you the next time that woman decides to pull a dogs hair she will remember what it feels like.... This situation is what landed me here at YT..... I decided that just because someone says they are groomers doesn't always mean they are the right groomer... Since I've found someone that lets me stay with Madea while she is working on her, but for anyone I suggest reading everything about the place your considering! The BBB should have information on major places like Petsmart.... |
I am so sorry for your loss. Unbelievable!! |
Get um where it HURTS. Money. Thanks for making us aware of this. Im so sorry this happened to your Baby. |
I have seen how these dogs in petsmart have been groomed. These groomers are unprofessional and very very rough. I have even emailed complaints about the Petsmart in Paramus NJ. One of the groomers literally yanked the dogs hair with scissors! And she also saw what she did and she looked at the other groomer and started laughing.. The dog was yelping and crying cause it hurt so much. i was looking at this when I was in line to pay. I went in there and yelled that the groomer should be fired for what she did to that dog.. I would never bring my baby to Petsmart I am so sorry that this happened, and they do not even sound sorry for what they did. Sue them so bad that they wont be able to even have a grooming section in Petsmart anymore. |
That is a horrible story and one of my worst fears... ...So I have never taken one of my yorkies to a groomer and never will. If you prefer a puppy/traditional terrier look to your yorkie, I have never had a hard time doing that myself with my guys. It may not be quite professional, but its close enough for my taste for sure. I admit, doing it yourself is a risk as well (particular attention around the eyes of course), but a much more manageable one in my opinion. If you have someone to help you and/or the proper equipment, it can be done consistently without a problem in my experience. I also agree with the many posters that if you do choose to go to a groomer, go to one that at least gives you the option of watching them work! I am very saddened by your loss. |
I am so sorry! I am so sorry that happened to you. I agree with Terri about making them responsible. I know they could not replace your Bella, the least they could do is compensate you for a purchase for another pet. I have heard bad grooming stories. This is the worst. After I tried 2 groomers, I decided to do it myself. No one would be as caring with your dog like you would. God bless, Please post with any news about Petsmart. I would also call main headquarters and cause a big stink! Jenny |
I am so sorry! I can't even believe this happened , I don't even know what to say, I would go bollistic, get a lawyer, and have them shut down! so sorry for your loss. |
