| Toto's jumping and waving her little paws ... me too, me too!! She got so bad wanting just veggies, she would pick through her food and leave the meat!! After doing this for a couple of weeks, I, naturally, took her to the vet. Dr. Lucy just cracked up! She said if she wanted to be a little bitty vegetarian, let her!! I thought she had to eat meat, but Dr. said it was OK but to leave off the english peas because they contain so much sugar. After awhile, I started smashing them with a little meat and she began to eat it all again. She gets Gerber Grad carrots and organic green beans mixed in with her food every day. Also, she will chew your hand off for some blueberries!! Go figure! I love the picture of little Tatum ... if I had to look at that sweet little face, she would get anything she wanted!! You have way more willpower than I.

| Dis is Bubba - I's say give da giwl her caworts - she's a giwl afder me's heart! My sis, Roxy & I luv fwuit & veggies so much. I dwive my mom nuts bawking fir caworts! Off to chew up one those owange round yummies Yes, I can attest to Bubba's demand for carrots! Actually, the only time Bubba barks is when he wants something - which isn't often. A year ago, Suzy took care of my 2 and since she home cooks, they had more people food than ever & somehow at her house, Bubba started demanding carrots. Now every night he goes and sits in front of the refrigerator & barks for carrots. They love all fruits & veggies, but it is something about those raw carrots. But like Tatum, Bubba could eat a ton. One thing I have been doing if he is still begging after eating 3, I will give him a bully stick or a flossie for awhile. Sometimes I think he just enjoys the chewing action - even at age 7!

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Well, first things first.......OMG, Tatum is ADORABLE!!!! What a sweet, sweet, face. I think I just might whine and cry to see more pictures of her And, as you can see from the many posts, you are NOT alone in having a little oinker in the house.......my Lucky included! He eats EVERY meal like there is no tomorrow, faster than a speeding bullet, and then if we would let him (which of course we don't), he'd eat everything in Toby & Halle's bowls too. And yes, he licks his bowl so clean, we barely have to wash it. Have you seen the bowls on the market made to slow fast eaters down? They have 3 or 4 bumps protruding up from the bottom of the bowl to make it harder to get at the food.......supposedly. Well, we tried one of those for Lucky. Maybe it slowed him down a little bit the first time or two that he used it, but it didn't take him long to figure out a way to get the food just about as quickly as he normally did. I think he inhales his food rather than eating it. I feed my babies veggies too.....just a little mixed in with their evening meal. They love them....carrots, green beans, and tonight we tried peas and they loved them too.

| Well, I think it is typical for most yorkies to have us wrapped around their little paws. My babies love their veggies. Dixie, who is 12, is the spokesdoggy for the pack. She will woof at me in the mornings for their cherrios and banana. In the evenings sometimes they get veggies and at bedtime they get little bites of the Pet Botanics dog food roll. They love the lamb and brown rice rolls. After I am through giving out treats I just hold up my empty hands and say 'all gone' and they seem to know the feeding frenzy is over. |

| Lilly does this! I feed her carrots sometimes and she SCARFS them down if I just put them in a bowl in the floor... then a few seconds later she pukes them up. I had to start just fixing her a few then letting them cool then hand feeding them to her. It works wonders, it lets her know I'm in command, she gets her carrots AND I don't have to clean up icky puke.

| I really envy those who have oinklets and oinkies Yorkies. How nice to have them eating on their own and wanting more. I would like Pao to be like that too..he whines only for treats and I don't usually want him to have too much of those but when it comes to his real food especially veggie and fruits he doesn't like them. I have to mesh them so that he'd eat it and not pick them out. He doesn't like banana, apple, pineapple, baby carrots, nothing...I think I am going to open a new thread to ask for suggestions on how to get him to like vege and fruits. Tatum's mommy, maybe you just have to blend the vege so it is easier to digest coz its hard for them to digest vege especially in pieces.

| That is to funny...my dogs like carrots but that is about all mind you if they think the cats are going to get anything they would eat it just so the cat won't get it. Maybe try putting the veggies on a cookie sheet or flat surface instead, so she can't grab more than one at a time...spread them out!! Or just give them one at a time maybe she won't eat them as fast!! |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Have you thought about making her work for her veggies? Joey's a little piggy too, and I found that all his breakfast and half of his dinner is used for training. The half of the meal that is given to him is bolted and I can't believe how fast he eats it, I can't imagine that he's really enjoying it. Much of the "training" is me throwing a ball or toy and having him return it to me. He's getting a little exercise, and seems to enjoy his "school time." You could also try giving her half her veggies at the normal time and half a few hours later, but when she begs, make her do some type of trick before you give them to her, otherwise she will remember she has been rewarded for begging. Just the look on her face is enough, how can you take it?
