I am disgusted by this I recently sold a male yorkie to a lady from Omaha, NE who said she had no intentions of breeding him, but had an "accident" with her female who now has pups. She emailed me the day the pups were born and said she had two males, and that's it. Now, I'm wondering if this is her, or if it's just a coincidence. If so, this makes me very mad. Maybe I'm overreacting, but this just doesn't seem right to me.. Any comments? Heres the link Yorkie Puppies- Born Today - Nebraska Dogs & Puppies For Sale - Kijiji Nebraska |

No he doesn't have health problems and I'm not concerned about the fact that she bred them, more concerned with the fact that she just had them that day and they were already listed for sale and the fact that they are being rehomed at 6 wks which is way to early. Seems like this person is just trying to make a quick buck. Especially since they want $600 for the pups and want it to be paid if full, asap even though they are only a day old. |
I'm sorry this happened .....I know it is sometimes no feasible for some breeders but it would be in the best interest of pups if the pups where fixed before being rehomed. That way you can be sure they would be just a pet..... I don't blame you for being upset....... |
I think you are right to be upset, most good breeders only want to sell to "pet only" homes, except for a few exceptional dogs that could possibly used for breeding, and then they would have to go to the right breeders home, not just anyone's home. Were the dogs AKC registered, and did you sell breeding rights? Did you use a contract? Unfortunately. you can't trust some people, whether outright liars, or just careless, so many people will just go ahead and breed a pet only dog. Joey's breeder had it in the contract that I was not to breed Joey, and she could obtain possession of the dog, if I tried to sell him, or I wasn't treating him right, so I really didn't buy Joey, I adopted him, and she is the real owner, so I better be a good mama. :D Some breeders are even neutering their dogs before they leave home, just to be safe. What's really sad about the whole thing is that the better dogs, generally, are less likely to be bred, and it really makes me wonder about the future for yorkies. |
If you know anything about the lady, like address, etc. go to anywho.com and go to reverse look up and then see if the number listed is hers |
Did you sell on a spay/neuter contract? Do you consider s/n before placing puppies? If the answer is no to either one or both questions, IMO, it seems that your buyer isn't the only one interested in making $$ off of puppies:rolleyes: To place pet yorkies w/o spaying/neutering or at least a s/n contract is not really being responsible in the placing your dogs. There isn't much to be done about it now, except I would call her and try and educate her on the proper time to place puppies, etc. |
She emailed me back and said it was her ad. She said her husband listed it for her and she was going to change it to 9 weeks.. So,, I feel alot better about it now. I was just worried cuz I have 8 week pups and they are still so small and just now have there teeth all the way in. |

For crying out loud - this lady wants the money up front when the puppies were just born! What happened to "deposits"? I sure hope no one gives it to her! That's like paying to get your house painted via internet and "waiting" for someone to show up to do it! She can hardly wait to get that money in her hands. I don't think I'd feel too good about this whole situation. Those puppies should be staying with Mom until they're 12 weeks old, anyway. Toy breeds need more time than larger breeds. |

I'm bothered by the fact that you seem to only care that she was selling them too early. YTCA rules require yorkies to be kept a minimum of 12 weeks, the different state laws applies to all dogs and make no exceptions for the smaller breeds. Nine weeks is just not good enough, and important socialization takes place in those final weeks. While every yorkie is cute, few should actually be bred, are you even sure yours don't have hereditary problems such as LP? It really bothers me that you are selling dogs that anyone can breed, and in turn she will be selling dogs that again anyone can breed, without ever knowing if they should be bred. After owning a purebred who was produced by an irresponsible backyard breeder, and watching the pain and suffering this little guy had to go through, as well as watching my children who loved him dearly, I can't tell you enough how important it is to become a responsible breeder. When you are producing puppies, you are producing something that has a major impact on someone's life. You should learn all you can about breeding, and choosing the right families for your pets. |
Our law is 6 weeks here, which my first yorkie was one day shy of 7 weeks, she did fine, and actually was the best pup I ever had as far as housebreaking, biting etc. Of course, now the biewer I just got picked up the pee pad completely in less than 2 weeks, and she's almost 7 mos now(got her at 5 1/2 mos) but, she was with her mom until I got her, and lately, she's been chewing the chit out of our hands. Myself, for me, I prefer to get mine at 6 weeks(as long as they're eating good and healthy) and train them my own way |

This is from the YTCA's Code of Conduct: 8) All puppies leaving the breeders possession will be a minimum of twelve (12) weeks of age to facilitate adequate socialization as well as appropriate emotional and temperament development through interaction with siblings, dam and other dogs. A reputable Yorkie breeder always follows the YTCA's rules. |
