| Full blooded Yorkie? Hey everyone! As Toby gets older and the more I look at everyone else's puppy pics, the more I'm starting to question that he is a full blooded Yorkie. He was a anniversary surprise from my hubby. When he picked him up, he saw the parents but doesn't really know enough about Yorkies to tell if they were full blooded or not. He said they were small and the breeder kept their hair really short. He did say that the dad was silver and black and the mom was tan and black. We got a form to fill out and send in to get him CKC registered. My dh called the breeder tonite and she is going to email pics of the parents tomorrow. Can you guys take a look and and tell me what you think? To me, his nose is longer and he isn't as fluffy as most Yorkies his age are. Oh, and I'm still new to the boards and having a hard time posting pics. You'll have to click on my profile and look at my album. Thanks!!! |

| He sure is adorable! Well, I am sure you will get a lot of opinions from everyone but the only sure fire way to know exactly it to have a blood test done. I have heard it is expensive but it can be done by your vet.

| He's darling. He doesn't quite look pure bred to me, but there are so many different "looks" in yorkies. That is one reason why most people look for an AKC registered pup. Unfortunately, the CKC registry isn't quite as reliable as AKC. Regardless, he's darling and I am sure you love him with all your heart. By the way- that is sure a SWEET anniversary gift! I'd say you got yourself a keeper Welcome to YT!!

| He is very, very cute! And SO sweet that hubby would get him for you! I do not think he is full yorkie though. He looks like he is a chi-yorkie mix maybe? In regards to CKC not being as reliable as AKC, I do not believe that to be true. I don't think that any of the registries are very reliable anymore. I have seen a lot of pups that are AKC registered that are very obviously mixed with something somewhere in their lines. It's sad that seeing AKC papers don't really mean that much anymore. It's all in the honesty of the breeder. I have seen some GORGEOUS ACA and CKC pups, and some horrible looking AKC pups (and the other way around of course). That is why it is so important to find an honest breeder that you can trust and not purchase on impulse. Of course, you will love him not matter what he is so all that is water under the bridge. However, I would advise others that are wanting to purchase from that breeder that the pups are not purebred at all. I don't know if you contact CKC and let them know, if they would act on it at all.

| In all honesty, he does not look like a pure Yorkie to me. Regardless, he is still a cutie. Unfortunately, even if you have DNA testing done, all that will determine is who the dam and sire are (and they would have to be tested too), but it still won't tell you if he is full blooded. | I can't really say for sure, maybe updated pictures later. As far as the testing, I believe it tells you if there are any other breeds mixed in. That was sweet of your hubby to surprise you, he's sure a cutie |

| The dna test (blood test is the best) is around $125. I hope you love him no matter whether he is a full bred yorkie or not. Since you have questions, why not ask the breeder if he/she will pay for the test? If it came up he was a mix, I would want some money back if I had paid a lot under the premise it was a yorkie....but would not give up my pup no matter what. I have two yorkie mixes and they are dolls! He looks very yorkie to me! .. and very adorable!
