I don't know how much the Heart Guard and Advantage are, but the Revolution is kinda expensive... but it also protects against heartworm, fleas PLUS ear mites, mange, roundworm & ticks. And that's why I like it. I'll stick with it - until it causes a problem. Thanks for the assistance. :)

I have tried the Revolution, and I am using it right now. I do change off and on to different kinds. I don't know, I guess my thinking is maybe fleas get use to one kind???? :rolleyes: LOL ! I change off and on with my hair conditioner too!
I know, I am a little weird. :D

It's official - we have been approved for the lil' guy (Kricket)!!!! There were 3other applicants for him, fewf! We get to pick him up on Friday night! I can't wait - will post pics once we get him home!

Ahhhh..congratulations on your your new adoption,cant wait to see pics..i too would love a little playmate for Harley but think D.H will take a hell of a lot of convincing..gonna keep trying though..:)

My dh was completely against it too. Just when I gave up, he gave in! That's what 4 days straight of sulking, pouting & crying (yes, there were tears) can do for you! lol But I do appreciate him for agreeing to it, and plan on posting pics to YT & the rescue of him & the new lil one together when I can. Hopefully of them snuggled up together sleeping! LOL

You know, I was thinking the rescue people were being a little picky - having concerns about which brand of meds you use. Ithought they should be glad that a good family wanted to adopt Kricket. Little did I know there were other families interested in him. Well, I'm glad they made the right choice. ;)

I thought they were being pretty particular too. But it's not like I have to do what they recommend, they were just voicing their opinions, which is fine I guess.
No, dh still hasn't picked a name for him yet, and it's keeping me on the edge of my seat!! lol I think he's waiting until we get him home and get to know his personality a bit more. So I'm hoping that by Saturday I can let you know. He has narrowed a huge list of names that I had down to 9. So far it's between:
Chase, Trooper, Chopper, Ryder, Cooter, Koby, Scout, Nico or Capes.

Of those names I like and think Koby suits him best.

Ok i know were to come then when i need to turn the tears on..lol :eyetearss just wanted to mention also that i too use the revolution and have never had any problems..:)

I just saw this thread and wanted to say Congradulation to you and your husband! That is so exciting to be adopting from a rescue group. 30 aplicants wating the same dog had to have been stressful! And they picked you guys, how cool is that !
I can't wait to see pictures of your new little guy! I think changing his name is a good thing, make him more of a little boy dog! Give him a new idenity to fit in your family ! He will soon learn fast :D

One more sleep before I bring home the new lil' guy! I can't wait - it's all I've been thinking about tonight. Surprisingly the week seemed to go by fairly quickly, I guess the fact that I was swamped at work helped me along. But I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight! :) But in another way I feel so bad about sharing my excitment because I've read a couple posts on here tonight where their babies aren't doing good at all. My heart goes out to them & their babies, and I wish I could make things better for them.

I have been thinking about you. The week did go quickly, once I got through Monday. I am so excited for you! I can't wait to hear all about ???'s homecoming! (Still waiting on a name...) ;)

Take lots of pictures, and check in when you can tear yourself away. :)

I just saw this thread too. I just recently convinced DH to bring home another furbaby as well. So I think we'll be bringing home a little brother for Cassi to play with by the end of this month assuming everything goes smoothly (keeping fingers crossed of course). I can't wait to see pics of the new addition to your family. :)

They were going to get him at about 5:30 last night. I bet they were so busy bonding, she hasn't had time to get on the computer! ;)

Yep - you were right! We were so busy bonding last night that I just finally got on the computer. So the lil' guy is finally home after a tourturous wait!!! Such a lil' lovebug too!! He's doing great - played with Deegan for a couple hours last night then they crashed on me on the recliner. The dh came home from work and we got up to hang out as a fam for a bit! lol The dh and him are getting along great - and I think he decided on a name - TROOPER it is!! After all, he's been through so much. I've taken some pics, but not really good. They are so busy running around - I can't get them to sit still for a split second. But I will try and post some soon.

Oh, but I do have one question.... Deegan & Trooper are both neutered but Deegan still tries to hump Trooper. I know it's more of a dominance thing, but should I let him do that in the begining or not?? I saw on the Dog Whisperer that Cesar let an unneutered male do that to a female that was new coming into the family, but I don't know if this is the same situation. And will Deegan grow out of that??

So glad you adopted him and are giving him a chance at a healthy and happy home.

I couldn't help but notice that he is a Liver Shunt baby. I am sure you already know, but in case not (and in case this is helpful to others) that he still needs to be on a restricted diet and supplements. Even though he had surgery to repair his shunt, it doesn't mean he is free and clear. He could shoot another shunt at some point in his life time, so that's why it is important to keep him on a special diet and supplements and have his bile acids tested often to keep an eye on his liver function. Not sure if you are familiar with the Yahoo Group for Liver Disease or not, but it is a great support group with lots of helpful information and lots of Liver Shunt Survivors. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it! Yes, Trooper is a liver shunt baby... He had surgery in the states at Oakland Veterinary Hospital. I have't talked to them yet, but I did meet with his local Vet that took care of him post op and she told me that he's got a clean bill of health & that I don't need to restrict him from anything??? Hmm... Now I really want to call Oakland to see what they say. I don't know much about liver shunts... What type/brand of food should he be on? And he isn't on any supplements either - they said he was completely healthy. But the vet did say that i should have his bile acids tested ever 6 months.

Yes he is probably healthy and doing great. The problem is alot of Vet don't know much about the "later down the road" for LS babies.

LS babies obviously have Liver Issues, and once the shunt is repair they can live a happy and healthy long life, but it doesn't dismiss the *original* liver issue - The "wrong" food and treats can still trigger HE symptoms.

My advice is to join the LS Yahoo Group, and ask those Mom's and Dad's who have the "down the road" first hand experience. B/c you sound to me like a very loving and caring Mom whom wants to do the Best for her new baby.

Natural Balance Veggie Formula is often recommended.

Jayde, I just wanted to say congrats on having "trooper" home now!! Aww this is so great, I am so glad to hear that every1 is bonding so well, I can't wait to meet him and Deegan of course!! Both boys will have another little girl to meet, my mom is getting a yorkie on Tuesday!!!:)

Letting DH think of the name was a good idea. Deegan and Trooper will keep each other company while you are out of the house. As far as names, Zack is on his third, first he was "Brutus" with his original elderly owner, then Clyde when him and a female were brought into the rescue and finally Zack with us. Zeke is on at least his second name, previously Romeo (gives great yorkie :kiss:s) and who knows before he was rescued.

Yea!! I'm glad everything went well, and that "the boys" are having fun playing together. Welcome, little Trooper! :)

I don't know about the humping. I've got a bunch more DW episodes to watch...plus I am still reading my Christmas book, but I got two more since then! If I read anything about it, I will let you know. I'm wondering if it's just a new thing that will pass on its own.
