Ugh - I'm trying to upload some pics of Deegan & Trooper, but apparently they exceed the file limit and I don't know how to make them smaller. :( But I did manage to change my profile pic & avatar. And if anyone can give me specific instructions on how to make my photos smaller I'd appreciate it. Just got done having a talk with dh... He still says that he doesn't want two dogs, but is doing it for me. But he really feels bad for Deegan... So do I. It seems to more time goes by the more he realizes that Trooper isn't going away and he's been so sad. Walks really slow, head down. He might get excited once in a while to play with Troop, but for the part now he's pouting. I'm trying to convince dh that he's ok and that he'll get over it. Most of us people & dogs too have gone through this - most of us have siblings... I hope Deeger's comes around soon. How long did it take your dogs to adjust to the new addition? |
Mine usually got along ok, but my oldest one, didn't like it when I brought in a new one. She is a dachshund, and 10 years old. She is fine now, plays with them all and it keeps her young. It probably took her about a month or less, and she was use to the fact the others were staying. I have 5 dogs total. Candy the dachshund 10years old, then Rocky..Yorkie 6years old, then Rosie..Yorkie 2 1/2 years old, Romeo..Yorkie/Poo 1 1/2 years old, and Raindrop..Yorkie turned 1 on January 4th! What a crew. :D |
I'm sorry that Deegan feels sad now. Maybe it's something else. I would say to just make sure you are giving him plenty of attention too. I'm sure you are, but you're probably making a big effort to help Trooper feel comfortable in his new home, so maybe Deegan is feeling left out. Give him some special "alone time with Mommy" if you can. When Deegan feels better, I bet DH will too. Here's how I resize my pictures. I don't know if you have the same program on your computer, but it's worth a shot. Oh, and I always make a copy of the picture, and work with the copy so I don't ruin the original. Open My Pictures Find the picture you want to resize Right click on it Choose "Open with --> Microsoft Office Picture Manager" At the top, click on "Edit Pictures" A menu should open on the right side. Look for "Change picture size" From there, click on "Compress Pictures" As you click on the different options, at the bottom, it will show you the original size and the compressed size. Try different ones until you get the size you need. (Remember to check the max. size on YT first!) Good luck! I hope this works... :) |
Grrr! I've tried what you said & a few other things but nothing's working... I don't have the program you have, but I do have photoshop (don't know how to use it much, but I have it). So if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. Otherwise I'm gonna talk to the geeks at work next week and see if they can help me. Thanks for trying NewYorkieLover! |
shrinkpictures.com works best for me and is so easy. Deegan will adjust. Dogs are pack animals they like having another around. It just takes time to adjust. Whenever we get a new foster it takes a couple of weeks to adjust then they all play and love each other. Usually within 2 weeks they sleep intertwined. :D |
1 Attachment(s) This is just a test... |
Congrats on bringing Trooper home. Love the name. Is Deegan Blue and Trooper red in your avatar? They look great and I'm sure they will make a great team!!! Tell your husband I think he's super!!! |

Deegan's starting to look a little scruffy & due for a groom. |
Oh they look cute together. I think they will be fine. It just may take some adjustments, but they will be alright together. They already look like a matched set. :D And I love the names. Good Job! |
Deegan will come around. They are a fine looking pair of pups. Thanks to all for the image file shrinking/digital camera image file size reduction info, especially where to get free downloads. Digital camera image file sizes can get quite large. :) |
They are both cuties!! And they look like they are brothers - from the same mother and father! :) |

Having 2 small dogs is the same as having 1 small dog in my opinion. The workload is the same. They keep eachother company so I dont feel as bad when I leave the house. Its when you have 3 dogs that it seems like the workload doubles!!. Im sure your husband will come around once he bonds with the new one!!! dont worry too much. My boyfriend was sorta like that when we got our third dog. He was like "Are you crazy? 3 dogs!!!!" but now hes totally in love with her and says he couldnt imagine life without her!!!. Did you find Cricket on petfinder.com? because I think I saw him on there when I was looking for a rescue yorkie. I hope everything works out and please keep us updated!. Good Luck!! And yes, I did find him on Petfinder! I fell in love the moment I laid eyes on him and thought that he and Deegan looked so much alike - I HAD to save him! As for the dh & Troop - they are getting along famously. DH seems to like to have him around. They cuddle in bed, he's been teaching Trooper some basic commands too. They're gonna make it. The only thing though is with Deegan. He's still kinda jealous and still trying to hump poor Troop. I hope this passes - soon. |
