She has/had more than just 8 week old puppies - she had older dogs as well and was claiming they had been vetted. I think it's interesting that you encourage people to adopt from her - good luck with that - her puppies are no longer listed on petfinder - probably due to the multiple complaints and charges against her. The rescue I work with as well as several other rescue groups in WI all know how Jennifer operates because we have all had dealings with her - other rescue groups have offered to take dogs from her into their rescues because she seemed so overwhelmed - she would not let any of the rescue groups take any puppies without paying her several hundred dollars. If she were really interested in the welfare of the animals, she would have accepted the help.

These kind of people make me sick to my stomach as they use the name of "rescue" to pad their pockets. With the economy what it is today at the dog auctions at the end of the day if some of these dogs are not sold they are thrown into the garbage pail...she is the kind of person who would pull them out to sell.

For anyone defending this person no reputable rescue would not vet the dogs and please don't even think that because you are just saving them from death that it excuses you from taking them to a vet. You are just a puppy pimp in my book.

Reputable rescues not only vet the animals they adopt out but they ensure they are spayed/neutered before going to their forever homes.

Let me also add most reputable rescue's do not adopt out of state unless they have someone who can do home checks etc. It is a known fact that people can and do lie on the internet and no one would send their rescued dogs to someone home without knowing what kind of home they are sending them to. A reputable breeder would not either.

You are right, a reputable rescue always spays and neuters the dogs.

P.S. I saw a breeder on here sell a dog and when the owners did not want it anymore then she came on here and said it was a rescue. This is not a rescue in my book but a breeder making a very poor decision on where she/he placed their dog. These kind of breeders also give rescue a bad name.

I read through all of the information that I could find on this place last night before bed. I was sick to my stomache. Anyone who thinks this lady is reputable is living in a bubble IMO.

I would like to challenge these "supporters" of Jennifers to show me a rescue that has had even close to the number of complaints or that has been similarly suspended from petfinder.

*****You seem to be on a personal mission. What rescue are you with? I went to all these links and they appear to be written by the same group of people.

First-you are not stating facts and people are believing whatever you type which is their fault.

I checked some things out on my own, it is the reporter in me. The County has no founded complaints on this rescue. A local newspaper article also supports this.

Second, they are still w/ Petfinder.

Third, I was able to find out the Thorp auction you make reference to were all adult dogs, not puppies and half on them went to other rescues.She also did not bid against you or any other rescue as you stated. I found out she did make a comment that many Amish bid against rescues to run up the auction prices.

Fourth-The recent ad reads Rescued Mill Puppies and Dogs Need Homes-NOT puppies for sale

Fifth-The last Thorp auction-they only took 4 dogs-none were ever posted to their site as these were pre-found homes through co-workers. All were very low in bid price. Several other rescues paid $175-$800 per
dog????CRAZY!!!!!!!! The profit-vendors are laughing all the way to the
bank.

Sixth-35 dogs and puppies were just transferred to a large humane society (all 35 adopted in two days) and they are getting more. THIS IS WHAT A REPUTABLE RESCUE DOES!!!!!! THEY DO NOT POST BLOGS ALL DAY AGAINST OTHER RESCUES. THEY HELP.

Seventh-When I adopted from her-yes, I am from WA, but had to fly out and meet her and the animal. I also had to take it on the plane w/ me-no cargo. ( She will not ship her animals) This was a two day trip so I had to find a hotel in Madison that would allow animals. So you ask what kind of person would pay to fly, stay in a hotel and still pay an adoption fee. Plus I also made a nice donation to her rescue on top of all the other costs.

I did this because I believed in her misson to close down puppy mills and I would do it all again in a heart bet....

I only talked about my yorkie mix because this is a yorkie forum, but truth be known between myself, family and friends we have adopted a total of 12 dogs ranging from 8 weeks to 5 years old.

Further-all of these were seen by a vet and had papers

Eighth-Do you realize what a disservice you are to these poor animals????
Do you realize Mills shoot them and still drown puppies?
What are you doing to help except bash other people trying? Again, what
rescue are you with if you are so proud? Post your name-SHOUT IT OUT!!!!!!!

Further-the last several people who handled County animals kept them in
horse trailers or tied to trees. One even sold them to labs.

Again, you should be ashamed of yourself, your actions, and focus your time and energy on the animals-not some personal vendetta.

Could you please post the link to petfinder where her dogs are listed? The only dogs she has listed now are not with Thyme and Sage, they are for the Richland county animal shelter.

Secondly, the auction that I was at with her was not the one this past September - I have no idea how many dogs she purchased there. The one I attended that she was at was last March - 2008 - and she left with 34 dogs, she would have left with 35, but we took one of her dogs into our rescue. Her total bill - as she told me - was over $4000.00. So I don't think it's fair for you to quote what other rescues paid for dogs as she obviously is no better. She stated that it was "fun" to bid against other people - which is why other rescues ended up paying more for the dogs at the auction in March.

I still stand with my first comment - Jennifer is doing no service to these animals, nor is she doing anything in the name of rescue. Any reputable rescue does not take on more animals than it can handle, does not release any animal without ALL of the proper vaccinations (parvo, bordatella, distemper, etc) and testing (heartworm, etc), and the majority ensure that dogs who are old enough leave the rescue altered, or they actually follow up on the spay/neuter contracts.

I find it interesting that you say you came all the way from WA to adopt a dog from Jennifer - aren't there any rescues in your area that you could be helping out? Seems like there is a little something more to this than you are letting on.

Hello everyone...I am sorry it has taken me so long to post but when I was searching tonight for information about the Thyme and Sage Ranch, I saw my story was linked to this page.

I just signed up to get to know more about my yorkie and thought it would be fun to talk with other people who had furry children like mine.

Skooter is the puppy I adopted in the summer of last year after I lost my Kasey. Kasey was one of Jennifer Petkus's many victims. My Kasey had parasites and Parvo. Sadly even though I have a great vet, he was not able to save her after the illnesses ravaged her little body.

I had found Kasey, reported to be a yorkie/pap pion mix on Petfinders.com and was told she was a "puppy mill pull". Of course within days after my little girl passed away I was able to find out that Jennifer was nothing more than a puppy mill broker.

My family was crushed when we lost Kasey. It was the second pet we had lost in less than 4 months. We had lost a 15 year old mix from cancer and old age and we were not even sure if we could adopt again after we lost two animals in such a short time.

I did however make a pact with my son that I would see that Kasey did not die in vain.

This however was not easy since everyone in the county basically blew off any complainant. But as a disabled police officer, I would not be discouraged from continuing.

In May she was raided and arrested. Even though the judge gave her very specific conditions for bond, Jennifer is breaking every condition and when she was arrested for bail jumping the judge said he was "too busy" to handle it.

If I were to give you all the entire story I would need an index because of all the work I have done over the past year. I would be so very happy to give more details or provide documents if anyone would like to read them. My file is huge now...But I won't stop.

So I post tonight with a request. I am sorry I usually try to catch up and get to know people before I ask a favor but I have started a petition to give to the judge with hopes that he would read stories and do everything that he can to give her the maximum penalty possible.

I am going to put the link here and hope that you all would possibly sign. This woman is pure evil and even though I spent less than a lot of people did my cost was still high and my emotion loss indescribable.

Why is it that the two of you who are defending this Jennifer person of T&S Ranch are so new to this site. You have about 3 post each under your name and I'm guessing they are all in T&S Ranch defense.

This person cannot possibly be in the legitimate "rescue" business. She is a broker posing as a rescuer. PERIOD!!! The conditions she keeps the dogs in says it all. She is doing this for the money and IF she really is trying to be a rescuer then perhaps you defenders of her should spend time educating her on taking proper care of the dogs and puppies that she obtains, before she sells them off full of illnesses that can lead to death.

You know from the beginning of my issue with Jennifer until today, she has her defenders. I am sure for everyone one victim like myself and Kasey there is at least one survivor. They are the lucky ones. Even a person who is good friend of mine and a HUGE advocate in the fight for animal rights and new legislation in our area, believes that Jennifer probably started out with a good mission in mind. I of course, do not feel the same.

The mission now for both of us is to make sure that she discontinues her activities with all animals. I do not think she should ever be allowed to have pets but I am sure won't be stopped. I do think that besides the greed for the money that fueled her in the end, there is some need for monitoring of her in the future. One of the conditions that I will fight for is life time probation. I know that the state has given as much to those that rob businesses, why not those that have killed leaving breathing beings for money? It will be a point I am hoping to bring to court if the victims are able to speak. While I continue to work with the victim/witness coordinator for this particular county and she should be able to get our opinions and stories to the court, it will be for the judge to listen with an objective mind.

As a disabled police officer, I know it is a gamble no matter how we go about it. Of course I will need to keep track of Jennifer and therefore her probation if we are able to get it ordered. Jennifer has family near Chicago and has said on her website that she lived in California for a while. This will mean doing everything I can to track her movement. She has listed her "farmette" for sale so besides needing the funds for her defense, she also has two or more civil suits against her, I suspect she would like to move so that she can start over.

There are still so many states without any legislation to protect our animals so I will fight to keep the changes moving to every other states as well as our own.

Thank you all so much for understanding our loss. I am going to go over to the new member area and post and will put this link and story on the rescue page as well.

For those of you that have signed already, bless you from the bottom of my heart. Kasey was a beautiful kind spirit and she is missed every day. While my Skooter is a beautiful dog...he is still my naughty little yorkie. But I couldn't love him any less.

Take a look at post #25 by Kootersmomma, the OP was bumped up and Thyme and Sage has been shut down. She is asking for you to sign a petition about the owner of Thyme and Sage. I don't think there is even an argument that the place was BAD NEWS. Please just sign the petition and support the closing of this horrible place!

I still stand with my first comment - Jennifer is doing no service to these animals, nor is she doing anything in the name of rescue. Any reputable rescue does not take on more animals than it can handle, does not release any animal without ALL of the proper vaccinations (parvo, bordatella, distemper, etc) and testing (heartworm, etc), and the majority ensure that dogs who are old enough leave the rescue altered, or they actually follow up on the spay/neuter contracts. I find it interesting that you say you came all the way from WA to adopt a dog from Jennifer - aren't there any rescues in your area that you could be helping out? Seems like there is a little something more to this than you are letting on.

Join Date: Sep 2009 Location: Rockton IL USA Posts: 9	Kasey's Story Hello everyone...I am sorry it has taken me so long to post but when I was searching tonight for information about the Thyme and Sage Ranch, I saw my story was linked to this page. I just signed up to get to know more about my yorkie and thought it would be fun to talk with other people who had furry children like mine. Skooter is the puppy I adopted in the summer of last year after I lost my Kasey. Kasey was one of Jennifer Petkus's many victims. My Kasey had parasites and Parvo. Sadly even though I have a great vet, he was not able to save her after the illnesses ravaged her little body. I had found Kasey, reported to be a yorkie/pap pion mix on Petfinders.com and was told she was a "puppy mill pull". Of course within days after my little girl passed away I was able to find out that Jennifer was nothing more than a puppy mill broker. My family was crushed when we lost Kasey. It was the second pet we had lost in less than 4 months. We had lost a 15 year old mix from cancer and old age and we were not even sure if we could adopt again after we lost two animals in such a short time. I did however make a pact with my son that I would see that Kasey did not die in vain. This however was not easy since everyone in the county basically blew off any complainant. But as a disabled police officer, I would not be discouraged from continuing. In May she was raided and arrested. Even though the judge gave her very specific conditions for bond, Jennifer is breaking every condition and when she was arrested for bail jumping the judge said he was "too busy" to handle it. If I were to give you all the entire story I would need an index because of all the work I have done over the past year. I would be so very happy to give more details or provide documents if anyone would like to read them. My file is huge now...But I won't stop. So I post tonight with a request. I am sorry I usually try to catch up and get to know people before I ask a favor but I have started a petition to give to the judge with hopes that he would read stories and do everything that he can to give her the maximum penalty possible. I am going to put the link here and hope that you all would possibly sign. This woman is pure evil and even though I spent less than a lot of people did my cost was still high and my emotion loss indescribable.
