| Some Yorkies ears stick up and some don't If you want them up yoou can help by cutting the hair on the ears which weigh down the ears I'm not a fan of taping ears It's smacks of docking and that scares me

| This might sound crazy, but when I was growing up my family had three miniature schnauzers, all at different times. My mom always bought puppies who didn't have their ears cropped, so the puppies always started out with hilariously cute big floppy ears. My parents still wanted the ears to stand up like a "normal" schnauzer's would though, so they constantly massaged the dogs' ears into the up position, whenever the dog was cuddling with them. Like, they would put a thumb inside the ear, and cup their index finger in a "U" shape around the back of the ear, and run this up each ear, pulling and massaging just slightly. All three of the long-eared schnauzers they did this to had both ears that stood up straight. Whenever they took them out for walks in public, people would grin and comment they they had the cutest looking dogs - looked like they were half rabbit with those big ears. I don't know if this technique could work with yorkies, but I don't see why not... Either as a supplement to taping, or instead of taping. Just an idea anyhow. Good luck with the ears :-) Lauren & Nikko |

Donating YT Addict | Tyke's ears are floppy. I think his ears are to big to stand up. and he's not a big yorkie either. he weighs about 5 lbs. we love him anyways... you can look at my pictures in my profile if you want....he's a cutie pie with his ears.

| we love them no matter what. Monday's ears are floppy and I think they are so cute that way. Friday's ears are smaller and are erect. Each one looks great the way they are. Monday is brownish and Friday is blondish. Monday weighs 6# 2 oz. and Friday weighs 5# 12 oz. They are in my avatar. Each dog is different. I do not know what makes the ears flop or stand up, but I love my babies just as they are. You will also.

| Too funny! I actually prefer the floppy ears. I'm currently looking for a puppy and hope to find one with ears that stay down. I guess it's all in what you like. I know these breeders think I'm nuts asking for a pup with floppys. |

Gunther's ears were down till he was about 9 weeks and the vet had told me the minute he was done with teething they would stick up though some yorkies ears never stay up... one of his went up for a a day then went back down then a couple days later both were sticking up.. so maybe he is just going threw teething still.. Gunther is 3 months old now and both ears have been up.. so i guess he is done with teething... though he doesn't act like it.. and i had never shaved the tips of his ears or taped them... i just let them do it on their own...

| I don't know if Sophie's ears are up or down, they are erect but the tips flop over. She has huge ears, I think the tips are just to heavy. I tried shaving and taping and neither worked so I gave up and let her just have her strange little ears (I love her ears).
