New to Yorkie talk Hello everybody, Glad to be here got a 5 month old yorkie from my husband for xmas. Great addition to the family. first 4 days we kept him in one of those small plastic kennels for potty trainging. With letting him have time out to play. He hated it. And pottied in the kennel and in the house.I went and got him on of those small wired kennels with a divider in it so you can make it whatever size you want. Actually we have it sectioned of and smaller then the plastic kennel. He loves it. He can see everything that is going on and has not went potty in the house since we got the wired kennel. I take him outside and he goes right away so he is doing great!! With all the stories I hear WOW !!! I hope he keeps up the good job !!

His name is JoJo His name is JoJo and he is spunky this morning !!! LOL So fun to watch play. I have always had boxers and used to breed them. I still have one female that is 14 years old. Her name is Jasmine and her and JoJo get along great.JoJo is a big 3 1/2 pounds !! As I read about potty training these little guys sounds like it can be a job. We have a fenced in yard. When I would put JoJo out to potty he just wanted to be buy my feet. So I started putting him on the other side of the gate and shutting the gate. Then he would go potty right away. Then I let him know what a good little guy he is then let him play for a short period and sit with me for a short period and then back in the kennel.Till it is time to potty again. I just keep repeating this. I think getting one of those little child fences that go in a circle would be great for outside. You could just put them in that to go potty and wouldn't have to worry about them running anywhere else. Also that way when you take them out they wouldn't be focussing on running to you or be able to get distracted by other things and learn that it is strictly time to potty. As they are so small to go out of site until they potty is impossible as I have to keep close watch on him.But I am home most of the time so that also helps alot. So hoping in a couple weeks he will have gotten the potty thing down good enough so that he can have more free run time in the house. Anybody have any advise for me as I am new to this breed. I read as much as I can about them and the training BUt advise never hurts ya may hear something that is important that ya haven't read or already been told. Am going to try and get some pics posted later today just gotta figure out how to do it.

Welcome to YT and i bet you cant just have one yorkie... They are truly a blessing. My husband is great with training them I do the pee pads and that works for me only because i dont like cold weather or hot weather and pee pads works for me.. we have 7 yorkies and 1 pom .. yes it is alot but it is funny how they came along 3 of them were my old ones and then i went with a friend to get one and yep i brought another one home then when i was walking out the door the sister to the one iu got just tugged at my heart and so few days later i kept thinking of her and called the breeder and she was still there called DH and told him i was going to get her he said what took you so long... then friend of mine that breeds pom had a real tiny little girl and wouldnt sell it cause she was so tiny .Yep you got it we have her...LOL then a Co worker got a 9 week old Yorkie and in one week went down hill I brought it home to get her well and with in a week the co worker came to visit and said to keep her she is happy here .. well she paid 1200 for her and she was free to me .. so there you have it and they are all loved an house broken.. It is a job .. people dont even know we have 7 babies cause we clean all the time......
