I really need some help. Hi everyone! Happy holidays, I need some advice from my fellow yt'ers. Bowie is 7 months this week, ava is 3 yrs old. Bowie is really mean to ava, he is so agresive, he takes toys away from her, puts his behind in her face and nips at her and now he has taken to humping her. He is just not nice to her. It really worries me, i want them to get along. Could it be his age, the fact that he is not neutered or the fact that i baby him? When ava is not here he is such a sweet boy. Can anyone help me , im sad they are being this way.:( |
Some of what you're seeing is puppy behavior and some simply means Bowie has decided he wants to be the dominate dog in the house. It doesn't mean they don't get along per se...it means he's the boss of her. |

It could be that he's not neutered and it could be that he's trying to be dominate. YOU need to establish your role in the house and show him that YOU are alpha. When he gets nasty, put him on his back and say no... he will fight you but DO NOT let him go until he stops. See, when dogs roll on their backs, that is their way of submitting and this forces him to submit and you prove your dominance. You should nip this in the bud before it gets worse. |
My Vet says humping is about dominance and he likely just wants her to know he is the boss, if she really didn't like it she wouldn't go anywhere near him and the way we get along isn't the way they get along, my mom has a cat that swats and my Verdelle and growls and he barks and jumps and torments her, but, she doesn't run away so I am thinking she likes it a bit:aimeeyork |

Most times my two play well but sometimes J'lo plays very rough with Diddy and tries to doiminate him......I stop her but have not tried the back thing.....I will try......both of mine are spayed and neutered but Diddy still humps his toy he doesn't try to hump J'lo. |
:lol tearsJ'lo & Diddy????? :lol tears I love it!!! Very creative. |
7 mos ... the testosterone is kicking in so if you get him neutered some of this will end but if he wants to be top dog... that's a different ballgame |
