My Adie is 2 and Skeeter is 10 months old. I have found that Adie as an adult dog has a great deal of patience with the puppy and lets him get away with quite a bit. But as he gets older she is less and less tolerant of his brattish behavior and lets him know it. He will usually show her his belly when she lets him know she is fed upl He has been neutered since he was 6 months old and has long stopped humping his favorite stuffed toy. He is a full pound heavier than her and yet she is the alpha among the dogs. LOL.

I think we are going to have to try this with Maybelline. In the last few weeks she has taken to humping our cat, Gracie. Gracie is 8 years old and fixed and Maybelline is 1 year old and not; we are planning to breed her next
Fall. I think Maybelline is trying to be the boss and Gracie is just too old to care. I don't think Maybelline has ever willing turned over on her back unless she was asleep. We will let you know our progress.

I think that whatever training method you choose is to be very consistent about it. Stop the behavior ASAP and continue to correct the behavior as soon as it is occuring. Yorkies are smart and soon will learn what is acceptable and what is not. :aimeeyork

I think neutering will help a lot. He may be trying to show that he's the alpha dog.

Bowie is trying to pull rank and become top dog. I have a 6 month old male yorkie and a 7 yr old female and am going through the same thing. You have to show both that you are the pack leader and that will help Bowie realize he's not the leader. (I am a big fan of Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer and he said when you have multiple dogs, if you show all that you are the pack leader, no one tries to become # 2 over the other dogs.) When Bowie takes the toy, you take it from him and show both that you are the one who keep the prize toy. (The prize is always the property of the leader). Also when he mount her, put him on his back and hold him there a minute or less that puts him in the position of submission. When it comes to the fighting don't jump in immediately unless they are about to hurt one another, Ava have to know she has to stand up to Bowie and she also may end up putting him in his place. My 7 yr old have had to nip the 6 mth old a couple of times to tell him to back off, if I stepped in immediately, I would have taken that opportunity away from her. Let me know how it works out...and if you are not feeding Ava first and giving her attention first be sure to do that to show Bowie Ava is not lower than him on the totem pole.

Once she get's used to it, she'll probably do it on her own. The other day Chip got in trouble for being mean to Smokey and my husband pointed to the floor and said "Chip, get over here." and he crawled over to him and rolled on his back without having to do anything. We never really had to do it with Smokey because he's a naturally submissive dog and does it all the time.

I have almost the same issue. And was looking for answers when I found this ...thanks for asking the question.

My Sam is almost 11 months old and he can be really agressive to our little Chloe who is 9 month old. She weighs about 41/2 pounds and Sam is over 61/2 pounds, so he has size on her. He tries to dominate everything that they do....what toys she plays with.....who eats first and he has now started to hump her. I scold him with a sharp "NO" and he stops for the moment but he will do it again when we are not watching. But she just goes along with him and let's him control things. Every once in a great while she will have enough of him and then look out.......she comes at him like a little maniac. At that point we have to separte them. And then there are the times that they are so cuddly and loving to each other.

But it's like Sam has to be first at everything....!!

I am hoping that this is just a puppy phase and that they will work it out but there are days that Sam is like any other big brother and annoys her to no end!!

I am going to try the technique of putting him on his back and see if that helps. We are looking to add a 3rd furr-baby but want to correct this before we add another.

UPDATE... I think this may be working. After just a few times of putting Maybelline on her back, she is starting to acknowledge us before playing with Gracie. If she approaches Gracie from the front to play we do not intervene, but if she tries to mount her then we put her on her back. Now she kind of looks at us for our reaction before approaching Gracie so I think Maybelline is getting the idea.
