| ![]() What do most of you use to protect your yorkie from fleas? I live in Arkansas where tick, fleas and chiggers are awful. Of course our yorkie is a house dog, he still gets ticks and fleas. I've tried Frontline, Advantix and today, he's getting a heart worm test so we can start him on Revolution...which helps prevent heart worms, and helps w/fleas and ticks. Any one else have this problem like I do? My yorkie is 15lbs + and his coat is very thick. Any suggestions are welcome! ![]() |

YT 1000 Club Member | ![]() I was using Advantyx and was finding out it was less than a month before the fleas were back. So I switched to Advantage... it seems to be much more effective. We're finally flea free. After trying all kinds of home remedies trying to be safe and this and that I just started using Advantage and what a difference it made. My puppy feels so much better too. |

| ![]() If I absolutely have to use something, it is Frontline Plus. Revolution is popular but there is some concern over it causeing more deaths than other heartworm preventatives and there seem to be too many dogs that are heartworm positive while on it.

The other part is Googlable. There are about 36 reported deaths from Revolution a year and only 6 with Heartgard. If there were more dogs on Revolution, those statistics would make sense, but my guess is that more dogs are on Heartgard because it is older and well known... A good way to find out is to contact the FDA.
