I went over the boarder and into IN to pick him up. I had him in the yard and he looks so much like Doodlebug that for about 10 minutes he thought maybe he was seeing double. :p Now he comes home from work and kisses the three pupster before I even get a kiss. Go figure.

I think you should work on him a little more. Tell him company is coming and he needs to shave and put on clean underwear. :rofl28ib::rofl28ib:

OMG - you are too funny!! This gives me great hope because after he told me I could get him (providing Kricket is still available), he said he doesn't know if he will love him like he loves Deegan, mainly because we didn't raise him from a pup. I'm sure with a little time, he will learn to love him.

Give him a hug from all of us. And keep us posted as too how much he "doesn't love the new baby";)

I adopted him and he recovered very fast. He was terrified of everything and everyone but me. He is still not social. He hides when people come over but loves other dogs and cats. Here is a picture of him the day he came into the shelter and now.

Then we got Darla from an ad on Craigslist. We have had her for about 6 months. She was not used to living with other animals and it took her a while to adjust. She doesn't like to share her things and everyone else's things are hers too. She loves Fritzel but still gets snappy sometimes.

I think adopting is the best choice. There are so many purebred dogs in shelters and rescues that need homes. I think adopted animals are grateful and loyal to their new families.

Wow! Fritzel looks so happy in the after picture... Good for you for saving him - I'm sure he loves you like no other!
As for Kricket - it's almost 9am, New Years Day and I'm up bright an early for someone who just went to bed at 5am! lol But I'm still waiting to hear from the fostermom. I'm gonna try and call her at 9:30am-10am if she doesn't call me after reading my email. Oh, how I pray that he's still available...
Since Julien did agree to take Kricket in I had to do a little bardering - I had to promise not to give him so much grief when he goes on his "dirtbiking trips" with the boys... I had to promise that Kricket would learn to be obedient just like Deegan, I had to promise that if he upsets the dynamics of the home in a huge way or doesn't get along with Deegan or hurts Deegan in any way that I'll have to rehome him. I think those are valid and I'm willing to do my damndest to make sure none of that happens. Oh yeah - and he wants to change his name too. So YTer's - please pray that I make this work!! For the pups sake.

There must something in the air! My husband agreed to go "look" at the 1 yr old Yorkie/min pin mix tonight! We are on our way in just a little bit. My fingers are crossed that she is the one!

I am a firm believer that they are all beautiful! It takes good nutrition and picking the right cut for their hair. A good groomer and weekly baths..also daily brushing. It usually takes at least a year to really see a huge difference..at least in my experience.
I always share these with the hope that people will see what gems they really are!

I have a retired showdog... she has CH.. Champion before her name on the breeder's website and is among the list of champion females on the site. Your George looks a lot like her!! :)You did a fantastic job with nuturing him to his best. But even in the before pictures he was a beauty... you could see the quality in his fur even then. I think the other poster was just trying to convey that rescue dogs are not the Model perfect dog and people who want a particular look should go to the breeder. But honestly a Yorkie can't be unattractive if it tried! They are just gorgeous dogs regardless of size. How did George end up in rescue?

He was running the streets and was taken to a shelter where no one ever claimed him.

Where is the breeder's site? I would love to see! There is a breeder in TX that has pups that look like him...not sure if maybe he came from there?

Here is another gem....Cody came to me from a shelter with messy skin..had a fungal and also bacterial infection. Black, almost leather looking skin...elephant looking skin in spots. He was put on antibiotics and I was told to bathe him in Selsun Blue shampoo followed with a 50/50 mix of vinegar and water. His before and after pics are dramatic!

I am with you...they are ALL beautiful!!

Nature's Recipe

I was at the groomer today (yes, she worked on New Year's Day!) and we were talking about his coat. He is getting older, and I have been thinking about a short cut. She told me that if I ever decide to really do it, to please cut it myself. haha She said after I botch it, she will even it out, but she is not keen on cutting that hair.
I always say that George is proof that God has a sense of humor...he gave George MY hair. :p I would love to have a head of hair like that!

Thank you..yes, he is! And a TOTAL doll baby! He was turned into a shelter with his AKC papers  looking like that...and elderly man who said he could not care for him. (wonder what gave him the first clue). The poor thing had apparently never had any toys. My son and his girlfriend taught him how to play. He LOVES his balls! He is so funny...hits them with his paw to make them squeak!
He also is Mr. Curiosity. He MUST examine every bag that comes in my home. He will bark and bark until he gets to put his head in. He never takes anything out...just wants to SEE.
He is 12 now and has some medical issues...renal stones, enlarged heart and liver...it kills me to think of the day I might lose him. I have had him since he was 8.
