what sort of medical bills would I have extra? |
just because a dog isnt a purebred, does not mean it will automatically be unhealthy, but if you buy from a reputable breeder and the puppies are registered with the CKC (canadian equivilant of AKC) than there is a better chance of having healthy puppies from a breeder that knows about the breed and cares for the parents and puppies to the best of their abilities. a vet will not be able to tell if the dog is a purebred. there is no test that can be administered to finds that out. the only way to know for sure is to have papers to prove it. the "breeder" is the only person that will be able to get you that information. find out if the parents are registered with the CKC and if you can see the papers. it would be up to your parents if they wanted to get the puppy registered also. i am not sure about the pricing in the east, but in ontario, you would not be able to find a registered pup for $800. purbred dogs go for anywhere from $1200 - $2000+ for a purebred puppy, fully registered without breeding rights. if this is just a person that happened to have puppies, it probably isnt likely that the parents are registered, but it wouldnt hurt to ask. |

SOME white on a yorkie is fine. Chip has a small white patch on his chest and is barely visible now. If the white is excessive then it's possible that her yorkies have an "off" gene. |
there are many problems with yorkie owners need to be aware of,luxating patella, collapsing trachea, liver shunts,hypoglycemia,etc...please tell you parents to become more educated on the breed like you are doing now,esp if it is their dog too |

ok,the lady is a back yard breeder. that is a term used for people who are not great breeders or very inexperienced who have puppies,etc...a reputable one would have lots of experience, would be knowledgable, test for disease,etc...that is the difference but regardless she is a breeder! |
I know because the dogs did love her and they had a ramp for her wheelchair..she was in a wheelchair and she had no breast...she told us that she had breast cancer and she was extreamly talkative so she even told us all about her cancer and she had to get her breast removed and blah blah blah...obviously she did love the dogs bcz they adored her and she did get cancer |
I think you are taking the first step to being a responsible pet owner! You are asking questions and checking out the breed before you bring this new baby home. There are many many people who don't know the first thing about the pup they just bring it home and go from there. Way to go! I think it is great that you are here and asking questions....Welcome to YT!:D |
well we can ask for a health garantee...you mean like something we make her sign? |

Okay bottom line is she had two dogs that got together and now she has puppies. The way I understand your post, you have been there and seen the puppies, there are a lot of red flags going up every where. 1st one, she has no papers or didn't offer any for that price 2nd one, you keep talking about the dad not looking pure breed and thats what you want or your mom will take it back. So if your thinking it is not why buy it, I know its hard to find breeders or people having 1 or 2 litters of yorkies, but that is a lot of money for a non registered dog. 3rd one, you do not want to bring a yorkie home at 6 weeks, its to young and needs to be with its mom at least till its 12 weeks old, mine aren't fully wean by them, they need there mother to teach them manners, and yorkies can have a lot of problems during this time, so they need to stay with there mom. I don't know how much vets charge in Canada but if you get the puppy too young and have problems with it, you will be paying twice or even three times what you paid for it. So why don't you look around first and get a puppy from a great person with puppies, that gives a health guarantee and reg. papers, and knows to keep the puppies to 12 weeks old. |

I'll ask for all the papers...or at least the dads...she might not be able to get the moms papers since she got her in Quebec...but it's the dad I'm concerned about and is she able to get the papers where she bought the dog or is it too late!?the dad is 1years old and a couple of months |

basically,as sweet as this lady is, you just shouldnt buy from her, maybe if you feel bad for her and if you didnt give a large deposit you could afford to let her keep it? |
my mom is suppsed to call her with the name were going to call him bcz she wants to call him by that name till we get it,I'll tell her to ask for a health garantee |
afford to keep what?the dog? |

we gave her 400 and made her sign a paper that says she will give us the pup and that we paid 400 |
nevermind...not an option |
that was before i knew all this ....do you think its posssible for her to go get the papers for the dad? the mom isnt suspicious cuz she looks exactly like a yorkie but the dad's colour is different so thats why its suspicious |
likely this lady doesnt have them, she prolly has no idea what a health guarantee invloves and even so it is less likely she can afford to promise that...bottom line is you should not buy from her but now you have given a large deposit,i wish you had found us first... |
