| Help! We're dog sitting.. Okay, so this isn't Yorkie related but I needed your expertise. My bf told one of his coworkers that we would dog sit her Min Pin. The dog is really sweet and cute but has dry skin and is flaking off dandruff everywhere. Also, she's shedding. I've always had long haired, non-shedding dogs so I don't know what to do. We are planning on vacuuming and lint rolling everything once she leaves but that's not for another couple of days. To be honest, it kind of grosses me out (mainly just because I'm not used to it). If any of you have ever owned short haired dogs, I need your help! Is there anything I can do to minimize the shedding/flaking? Would a bath help? Would a bath be too stressful for her since she's in a strange place?

| If she has dry skin I wouldn't bath her. and the shedding is going to happen no matter... But I would brush her once or twice a day to minimize the shedding. make her feel at home so she isn't scared cause that might make her shed more!

| Okay, thanks! That's good to know about the bathing. I didn't realize it would dry it out even more. I just set up a humidifier in our living room (Franklin has dry skin too) so maybe that will help. I guess I'm just going to have to deal with the shedding, which is fine for two days. We have her crate open and are just letting her roam around and explore so she can acclimate to our house.

| You could use a moisturizing, dog friendly shampoo on her. She could be flaky because of dry skin but maybe they have been using human shampoo... I don't see bathing as a big deal and wouldn't hesitate to do it if I was dog sitting. She'll get over it as long as she isn't overly skiddish. The shedding is one reason why I have a Yorkie. Lint rollers and brushing is about all you can do and a good diet may help.

And about the Yorkies.. SERIOUSLY. I forget that we are so lucky with this breed. Every time I even pet another dog, I get hair all over my clothes. I don't think I could handle it.

| My Chihuahua sheds. Not great gobs of hair like Collies and some of the larger breeds, but little bit short hairs that stick in everything and are a pain in the butt to try and remove. The suggestion about brushing might help some and at the very least will make the doggie feel soothed. Wear an apron or old shirt when you're going to hold it for any length of time. Also, some people mind the shedding more than others. I don't notice it much, and hubby is getting better about not complaining, but it REALLY annoys some. |

| Ya know, that's a good idea although I don't think we have any that fit. The Min Pin is kind of chubby..

| Update So I'm starting to get a little bit annoyed. The dog's owner's told us they would be back today before 5pm FOR SURE. It's 5:25 and we haven't heard from them. We've called twice but no answer and no reply. I am extremely frustrated. I don't mind watching the dog, she's really sweet but I would like to be kept informed of what's going on. We could have made plans for tonight but now we have to stay in to watch the dog and we don't know when the owners are coming back. Needless to say.. I think I'm going to be picky from now on when I tell people I will watch their dog.

| I have a pug who sheds alot too. There's really nothing you can do, and I find it's even worse after a bath!
