| Yorkie vs Silkie I am wondering about the differences between yorkies and silkies. Tessa is definitely a Yorkie but I think Harley just might be a Silkie. The more I read up, the more I think he is. Neither one of mine are registered but were sold as Yorkies. Is there a good way to tell the difference? Does anyone have any suggestions?

| Here is a link to "Frequently Asked Questions" from the sticky near the top of the General Discussion page; Yorkie vs. Silkie is discussed under #21 http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...tions-faq.html Hope that will be of help. Or, you could have a DNA test done if you really want to know for sure.

| Thanks Mauigirl! The more I read the more I think mine is a silky. I must have missed this in the FAQ! DNA testing would be too expensive for me. I don't breed but was just wondering for my own sake. Thanks again for your help!

| My dog came from a rescue situation-- she was taken from the home of a woman who supposedly bred yorkies, but I have always strongly suspected that she is at least part silkie. She just *looks* more like the photos of silkies that I have seen. Now, after reading the descriptions that you all linked to, I'm even more convinced that she must be part silkie-- those personality descriptions match Penny almost exactly! I wish DNA testing wasn't so pricy-- it could be interesting.
