Thank God for CPR! We almost lost our beloved Adie today. She and Skeeter were play fighting and Skeeter's bottom jaw got stuck in Adie's collar. It choked her and she passed out on the floor. My husband was home thank God and said she wasn't breathing, she had pooped and pee'd. Her eyes were rolled back. He called me in a panic screaming into the phone "Adie's dead" "She's not breathing." I yelled at him to give her some breaths and get her over to the vet "NOW."(Thank God he is CPR certified and remembered how delicate a baby's lungs are.) He gave her a few breaths and she started breathing again but wouldn't open her eyes and couldn't stand up. He rushed her to the vet and I met him there. They gave her oxygen and checked her out. She is now on ante-inflamitories. Evidently her little trachea collapsed under the pressure os Skeeter trying to pull free. She is alright now - but we have to watch her closely. I was so scared. Adie is a very special dog and I don't know what I would do without her. To loose her now after so much crap has gone on in my life would kill me I fear. Lesson learned. No collars indoors. Dh took the collars off of every single dog. I hope like hell none of them run out the door. I use halters when I take them out and have only used the regular collars to hang their name tags on. We think Skeeter is OK but I need to check his jaw and teeth really close when I get home. Dh can't handle a wiggly little 10 month old! |
Oh wow! I'm glad he knew CPR too! Please keep us updated. Sending all of you hugs right now. |
oh boy! thank god he knew CPR!!!!! |
Thank goodness your Dh saved her! I'm making a mental note to print out some puppy CPR. You just never know what might happen! |
OMG I am so glad your story has a happy ending. Give you hubby a pat on the back for me. He did awsome! |
Thank God she is ok. Things can happen so quickly with these babies. Your husband is an angel!! |
OMG that is very scary - I am glad she is ok. |
 how scary!! Im glad that she is ok. |
Wow!! You must have had a guaridan angel watching over Adie! Thank goodness he knew CPR and reacted to quickly! Keep us posted. |
Thanks everyone. I can't stop crying now. I am so relieved and I'm stuck at work when all I want to do is go home and cradle my baby girl. We were so very fortunate. My husband is disabled and spends a lot of time in our basement working on a part time job he has. He would have ordinarily been working at that time but got interested in a minister that was talking about (are you ready for this?) miracles. So he wouldn't have even known what was going on if not for that tv show. Thank you God. |
wow that is a true miracle, how amazing he was watching tv and saw this happen, I am so glad your babygirl is okay. |
thank god everything is ok... give your husband hugs and kisses. he did good |
WOW....You never know what's going to happen next. How scary that must have been. Harley grabbed a large piece of chicken I had dropped while preparing it for soup. He swallowed it whole. He started choking right away. I had to carefully apply pressure on his stomach and thank god he spit it up in the sink. I work for a doctors office and we all have to take the CPR coarse and be up to date. You never ever know. |
I'm glad it appears she is ok. You've certainly had your scare for the day! Hoping they're both just fine in the end... |
Thank God Adie is o.k. and your husband was there to give her CPR. I'm sorry you all had to go through such a scary experience. Adie has a wonderful Guardian Angel in your husband, Blessings to all, Baron's Mom |
