| Fellow Yorkie lovers, please help us find a pup Hello Everyone! I have been a Yorkie lover for years and am looking for one desperately! I live in South Jersey and am looking for a local breeder. We are looking for a puppy for a pet, not to breed and are looking to spend around $500. I have already been scammed and heartbroken by really cruel people on line. I need to go off of recommendations, who better to recommend a place to get a dog than THIS website. Please help if you can. I do not need a dog before Christmas, as we are traveling. I can wait as long as it takes to get a HEALTHY pup! Please advise if you can help. Jennifer PS: I saw a lady with two beautiful Yorkies at Petsmart today and she said she got hers from the Puppy Boutique in NY. I looked them up on consumer affairs and saw some bad reviews? Anyone care to weigh in? HE said that the owners bred the puppies there? |

| I would never ever buy from a petstore. Most of their puppies come from back yard breeders and puppy mills that don't practice ethical breeding practices. It's likely that you'll pay a fortune for an unhealthy puppy. I would recommend looking for a good breeder, there are a couple on this website! Although, $500 is on the low end for a Yorkie. You'll want to buy from a breeder who does all the genetic testing on the parents and puts a lot of time and care into their dogs. It all depends, though. Sometimes good breeders are willing to let their dogs go for less if it's for the right home. I would browse through the For Sale sections and see if there are any breeders in your area. I don't know of any in New Jersey.. maybe someone else can help? Good luck!

| Hello Jennifer: Please stay away from Puppy Boutique. When I was searching for a puppy I called the number on their website. I asked the man who answered if they were a breeder. He told me that his wife was a breeder for years. I also asked him if the puppy's parent were there so I could see them. He told me yes. So my husband and I drove to the city. When we got there I could not believe that it was nothing but a pet store. I asked who I spoke to on the phone and asked them why they completly lied to me. I was so angry and walked out of there!!! They also call themselves a different name now. I guess from all the law suites. |

| Hi! Welcome to YT! I will tell you to stay away from buying a puppy from a petstore because you never know what you are actually getting. $500 for a yorkie I will tell you probably will not happen. Normally yorkies cost a thousand to 3 thousand dollars! But if you pick the right breeder it is worth it! If you go to forums and then down to featured yorkies for sale, it will give you a list of yorkies for sale that YT recommands, although there are tons of great breeders on here that are not on the list but that should give you some options. Good Luck and again Welcome!
