I'm not much of a fan with the growth chart :p My girl was brought home kind of early at 6-8 weeks and weighed .7 lbs. NOT EVEN ONE POUND. She is now 2 years old weighing in at 10 lbs. Not that I'm not happy with her, but just to prove that the growth chart isn't always right. I'm happy that she is what she is right now, because we do have a son, now two...but they sure sometimes are rough with her...they truly play like siblings!!!! |
I was so worried that mine was going to be a small one too, she is only 3 and a half months and she just weighed in saturday at 3.2 lbs....two weeks before that at the last shot visit she was 2.5 lbs............ I am used to big dogs so this seemed WAY small, but now that I see yours and some of the others she doesn't seem that small anymore! Yours is super cute too!!!!:aimeeyork |
I know me too! I thought I had a tiny baby Quote:

HI Kim..Suri is a doll baby! I'm going thru the very same situation as you...with my Tulip. I did the growth chart deal with her and according to it she should be around 3 lbs...however she's only gained 1 oz...in 12 weeks! I spoke to my vet and he says apparently this is normal for her... each dog is different.. I did the same thing with my other little girl, Daizy and the charts were right on...She stayed at 5 1/2 pounds since she was 5 months old now, however she did just gain 1/2 a pound and she's almost a year. So she's now 6 lbs! I spoke to someone else and they had a very small little girl and she said her baby hardly grew at all but around a year she put on a lb or so... I guess we'll just have to deal with our babies no matter how small they are or how big they get....lol I was hoping that Tulla would make it to 3 lbs...too! I have 2 large dogs...and it is scary with this tiny 1 lb. 8 oz. baby running around their feet. She hardly feels like a dog..she feels more like a kitten to me...lol she's so delicate! so good luck to us both! :) |

Aww that must be small!! I have a 1.6lb 2month old baby boy who is short nosed and short body. I also have a 3lbs female and 2.3lbs female that is 6 months. They are teenie babies and pretty much will stay that way. My babies do love big dogs and have NO fear of them. Post a pic of yours if you can. |

puppy is sooo cute!!! and the pepsi can is awesome lol diete! |
My Jeter was estimated to be about 4 to 4 1/2 pounds, that was going with what past litter's of his parents weight turned out. His dad is 4 pounds and his mom is 5 pounds.Jeter was from a litter of 4 and was the 2nd smallest of the litter. I brought him home at 10 weeks old and he was 1 pound 2 ounces, he gained weight very slowly so I would take him in for weekly weight checks at his vet's office, they are just a block from my house, witch came in handy for me cause I worry all the time:rolleyes: When we got our other 2 Yorkies when Jeter was 10 months old, they quickly out weighed him after a few weeks:) He is 14 months now and he is only 2 pounds 8 ounces:eek: He doesn't realise that he is so small! He puts the other 2 of our Yorkies in place when they play lol! Our Axl is almost 8 pounds and Yumi Yasha is almost 4 and they are now almost 7 months old. So their is a big difference in size with them. He is currently the smallest adult Yorkie our vet treats right now, and he is extra cautious with giving him his vaccinations and meds. My vet does not think a 2 1/2 pound dog needs the same amount of meds as a 20 pound dog, thank goodness! |

Your Suri is just a doll! :2hearts2: too too cute!! (where in CA are you??) at 6.5 months, Gemma was about the same size as cute lil Suri!(we were at vet's office, that's how i remember ;)) she is now almost 8months old and is just at 2lbs.(on a good day!) like i said before, she is a lil muncher & and i am SO SO thankful for that... really!! i would be going CRAZY/worried sick, if she didn't love to eat! these tiny babies need their food! :p another thing i am SO thankful for.. is the great breeder i got her from ;) i can not express what a great experience we have had getting her from such a wonderful breeder, who knows her lines and does not breed for tinies(just happened to have a little one)!! when looking for a sister for Avie, i made a list and researched many breeders... & i am SO SO thankful i did! ;) Quote:

Don't count her out yet... Ryder went from under 2.5lbs at eight months to 3lbs (on a heavy day!) at 15 months. He still has some filling out to do so I am hoping for 3.5!!! Ranger went from 3 lbs at 6 months to 5.5lbs at 18 months. I think they actually put on quite a bit in the later half of their first year. She's a cutie though. |
Someone call the dog police! Suri is tooooooooooooo cute! |
