white 2 Attachment(s) Why is my yorkie so white/silver??? When we got her.. she had a little bit of silver in her, but not much.. her mom was covered in silver.. but we didn't know this until we purchased her cause it was a breeder from a different state. She's still gorgeous to me.. but I thought yorkies were suppose to be tan/black. Hair hair on the back is black.. but the roots are silver/white, and the hair on her head is turning white. Does anyone else have a yorkie that looks like this? Heres some pictures of her at 3 mnths, and now 8 months. |
she is a doll. |
It's too soon to tell. She won't have her adult coat and colors until at least 2 years old. My baby Gracie (RIP my angel!) was sooooo beautiful and had a silver back. |
2 Attachment(s) Our dog did the same thing. He always had a little white on his head, but we were gone one day and he was at my moms and he came home looking like a skunk his whole head was white. Both of his parents are silver so I figure he's gonna be too. The first picture is him now (14 weeks) The second is him about 4-5 weeks ago. |
Your baby is very cute! Teddy too is very light. His black is almost all gone off of his face now and he is like a blond color. Which works because all of my kids were little toad heads! I guess it wouldn't matter if he were purple with green polka dots I don't think I could love him anymore than I do... |
harley has the same coloring - are they just beautiful! |
Hallie has those colorings too! I don't know what she looked like as a baby but she is very silver now. |
She is beautiful! My Aimee is almost 5months old and looks the same. Her sister Olivia is gold. I think they look beautiful together. |
Sango has silver on her face also. :) Your baby is beautiful! |
What a doll she is! That pic of her in the yellow sweater could win a contest for sure!!! |
I think she is adorable. I love that coloring. :) |
1 Attachment(s) Sully is doing the same thing, and like you, we didn't get to see his parents when we bought him. (But I had done extensive research on the breeder and asked her a million questions, etc.) |
Wow, he is REALLY shiny! I wish I could get my yorkies coats that glossy! |
Aww, thank you! Sully, despite his other characteristics that are not breed standard (9lbs, floppy ears, long-torso).....he's the shiniest, silkiest coat I've ever seen! We just got lucky with him....and I wouldn't change anything about him for anything! ....btw, have you tried the CC stystems? It's supposed to do miracles on any yorkies' coat. We ordered it and it should arrive tomorrow! Not that I can imagine Sully's coat getting much better, but....WE SHALL SEE! |
rosies face has gone from black to silver to a lovely toffee colour, her body is still black with a small amont of silver on her front legs and a toffee colour BTM. her parents were mom was a lovely light grey very shiney pettite female, dad was light grey as well lot bigger and had a courser coat but he was so gental and proud of his babies, so rosie could be either coat im looking forward in seeing what her adult coat comes like, wendy and rosie :rose: :yorkiesar |
I have one like that!! 1 Attachment(s) MY little guy started off really dark with some white on his face, and now his black is almost gone especially after his haircut, he is white and silvery. Everyone I meet loves his coloring though, too me he's a "special" yorkie. Here he is with "the other love of my life" my daughter. |
We've been using Dream Coat supplement by Halopets.com in our furbabies food and its made a big difference just in the last 2 wks . We started them on it Aug 1st. along with the Spots Stew. Their dispositions have changed for the better, more relaxed. Your little one is such a cutie ! That pix of her in the yellow sweater should be on the front cover of Yorkie Magazine..... |

Carter started off with silver roots and went to solid silver on the top of his head. Now at 13 months, the silver is turning tan or blonde. Lisa Carter's Mom |
That baby is so cute, I am not sure I would care if it was polka dotted! |
Chachis hair is doing that too. His whole back is turning this white gray. |
1 Attachment(s) Pita did the same thing, she's more blonde now on her head and I thought the silver was going away on her back but it seems to be coming back... so it's not just you. |

My Yorkie Riley is turning silver. Him was basically all silver with a little brown. Riley's head is basically silver and we can see the roots of his hair starting to turn silver. It is hard to see, but if you look under some of his hair, he is silver. I am pretty sure he will turn mostly silver because of his mother, but it doesn't bother me. I think he is cute either way, and so is your Yorkie. Your furbaby is absolutely GORGEOUS!! |
My Bailey is a surfer boy. He is very light colored and is a year and a half at this point, but the picture is at about 1 year. Love to all, Samc and Bailey :) |
Indiana started out black and tan, but by 4 months his head was silver and he had an inch of silver roots attached to his black hair on his body. I had him clipped really short because it was so hot this summer and didn't recognize him when I picked him up! He is now pretty much all silver. Passionfruition, I know what you mean about soft silky coats and bigger than norm size. Indy has the softest coat, everyone who sees him remarks on it, and he is also 9lbs with a long torso and sometimes floppy ears. I wouldn't change a thing!!! He's a great dog! |
