| New to Yorkies and YT Hello, I just got my little girl one month ago today! 11 years ago we got Charley for my grandma, he was the cutest thing and I fell in love. She got really sick and couldn't take care of him and my fathers aunt has him now and he is her baby. I have always had big dog all my life and the hubby was against small "ankle bitters" this year for my birthday he said we are going on a 2 and a half our drive to get your baby..... I tell you what I have never been as much of a dog person as I am now, she is my fourth daughter, just a little more hair than the other three! Her name is Sophie and she was born on August 22nd this year. Vet two weeks ago said she was 2 and 1/2 pounds, but the printout said 2.06 so she is somewhere in there. I have a question if you guys know when her true color will be there. Her mom is a parti and dad looks like the others. She is black and tan but is starting to get silver at the roots on her head. Is there any chance she will turn light like mom or should she stay like this? Also, I leave food all day and night since I am scared of her not getting enough, but should I limit the amount or just let her eat whenever? Thanks and I hope to hear from some of you. Alexi |

| Welcome! I'm no expert mind you, but my guess is that she'll probably look like her dad since I'm pretty sure Parti is a recessive gene. But stranger things have happened. And my husband plays with my little furbutt too. as do all our "tough, manly" army soldier friends. haha! The only problem is that They think he should be allowed to drink with them. |

| Hi! Welcome! I leave food out all day for my gang. If you are concerned about if she is eating enough, measure out how much you put out and then you can remeasure later in the day to see if she is eating well. Eating well is not an issue I have, I'm blessed that all three eat well. I think that if she was going to be a Parti the white would be visible from the start. But she will change color regularly for the first year and can up to 2 years. Gracie Ruth started getting silver roots on the top of her head when she was around 4 months. She is 10 months now and I'm so glad I took pictures of her every month so that I could document all the color changes. My DH has threatened Yogi with Just For Men hair color if he even thinks of getting silver. He's hoping for the beautiful black and gold like Yogi's daddy. 1) Gracie Ruth at 3 months 2) G at 8 months 3) Yogi at 3 months 4) Yogi & G's daddy, Manolo

| Welcome to YT! My husband wasn't too sure about and "ankle biter" either, but he loves Teddy just as much as I do and was the first one to bring up getting a little girl! We've only had teddy for 2 months! I started out feeding Teddy twice a day but my timing must have been off because he didn't seem to be hungry at those times so I leave him food out all day and he likes that much better~! Happy Holidays!

| Thanks for all the good info! I had my husband put up a picture of me and the dog on here so hopefully it worked! I took a few more pictures and will try to get those up here too. I think I will opt for leaving the food out for now, I am so scared something will happen to her if she doesn't get plenty of food. She is so small! She does eat well, she snacks but she eats so thats good. She is pretty fast for being so small though |

| Welcome to YT from another Sophie Yorkie Mom (I think Sophie must be a popular name for Yorkies). My baby is 6 months tomorrow and I learn something new everyday from the members here.
