| Would a chocolate yorkie be most likely to develop retina degeneration than a standard color yorkie. My Chunk was diagnosed with this aliment at the age of 9mos. Now at 19 months he is completely blind. Chunk's mom A righteous man regards the life of his animal....Proverbs 12:10 |

| Hey...wait ?? Did I miss something?? I just thought this was about a chocolate color { genetic or mutation }found in a Yorkie. How did fur get into it ? I'm confused.....Maybe I missed some other discussions. It is good to see passionate people though , makes life better ![]() I'm off to try and find out what the hell I missed !!

I'm by no means an expert but based on my personal experience, they are just as healthy as standard color. None of mine have developed any health issues what so ever. Here's a few pictures of one of mine.

So what does that mean??? Was the Fox becoming extinct so they needed to replenish them to let loose in the wild? Did the Fox become a family pet that we need 'breeders' now ...sorry, but to me, it sounds like he was within the same cycle of the Fur Trade

| Yes, it does seem like he was in the fur business but, as he stated, it was some time ago. I don't have any use for raising animals just for fur but wouldn't condemn someone that USED to do it. Not everyone shares the same mindset when it comes to animals and it is not my place to shove my beliefs on someone else. And, it was years ago, before animal rights, PETA and the like. People DO change, ya know? As for breeding rabbits for meat, I'm feeding my cat a rabbit formula food. That meat has to come from somewhere. How many people here feed their Yorkies some of the more exotic meats? Quite a few. Many brands now offer venison, buffalo, lamb, pheasant, etc. In fairness to Wayne, he raised the fox and rabbit in the past and now has Yorkies. I can't help but imagine his perspective has changed by having these little angels in his home. He came on here offering his experience (which is substantial) and got royally slammed. His threads had the potential of some very good info coming out in them. Up til now, some of the more interesting threads on genetics that I've seen here have been those that involved folks that had raised horses also and I had hoped these threads would have been just as informative. I guess we can forget about that now. Happy Thanksgiving, y'all. |

| i am just happy that he moved on with his life. he kept complaining about people's comments and saying that he was going to leave......so finally! he made up his mind! ![]() which ever side you are on about whatever issue/topic raised in the forums is fine, but you are going to have people that disagree with you no matter what. so if you can't get over the fact that people have different opinions, then yea.... |

| I think you have all been led down a garden path. I have no idea who the OP was asked by to post here in the first place and he knows absolutely nothing about genetics in Yorkies which is very obvious by his info in his posts. |
