| Are dogs born as "cuddle bugs"? I was wondering if anyone knows if dogs are just born as "cuddle bugs" or if you can turn them into "cuddle bugs"? Do their personalities change as they grow? Can their environment change their responses to being held? I want a "cuddle bug" to snuggle with but "Widget" just wants to play. Will he change as he grows or are puppy's born snugglers? He's a 5 month old Yorkie. |

| Some are born like that and some grow into it. My Jewels has always been since she was a pup. Chachi liked to run and play as a pup but now as an adult he is cuddly. Jewels is more so though, she lives to cuddle

| Im new and don’t have my Yorkie yet. And I am defiantly not as experienced as most people when it comes to raising a Yorkie. But I believe Puppies are like children. They are not born a certain way. Yorkies are like every other puppy (but much more special ) they have a mind of their own. And the way the act when they get older pretty much reflects the way they grew up. For example if you were to leave your puppy alone most of the time and never give him/her the proper love and affection it needs, they will end up very miserable and withdrawn socially among other problems. Or if you continuously play rough with your puppy, let him/her bite your hand/feet etc…they will grow up thinking its okay. It may be cute when there young, but not so much once there older. I hope I helped a little. But like I said before im not an experienced Yorkie owner yet, just my personal opinion. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Let me throw in....some never "grow into it". Ramsey has never been a cuddler and at 3 years old...still isn't. She will sit/lay beside you and shows her affection with kisses....but it's limited to that. Reese and Reggie are my cuddle bugs....and Reggie the ultimate cuddle bug baby.

| Some are born that way, some grow into it, some never do. Annie was always a snuggler. Boo has always loved to snuggle. If you aren't sitting or laying correctly he will poke and prod until you move so that he can snuggle with you. Gracie not so much, very independent as a little girl. She's 10 months old now and is getting more and more snugly as she gets older. Mostly since she was spayed and her pesky little brother has come to live with us. Yogi, from day one has loved to snuggle.

| snuggler or not Thanks for all the thoughts. Widget will snuggle up to me when it is bed time otherwise just wants to play. Maybe as he gets older (and I don't want this to be rushed) he will like to be held. At bed time (he sleeps with me and his sisters) he has to be touching me. Either his head on my neck or shoulder but other times just wants you to throw the toy again and again and again. |

| I agree with you. Raindrop is now 10 months old, and will sit on my lap while on the computer and cuddle. She sleeps with me, or snuggles up to me on the couch. It could be the age, but also like someone mentioned, some are cuddlers, some grow into it, and some never will be a cuddler. |

| My Ollie is a cuddle wh*re. Unless he has a case of the zoomies (which he does get, occasionally, especially if I tease him with a crumpled paper sack or his toy mouse) he is perpetually slung across my lap and has been since the first day I got him. |

| Cuddly or not? My cosmo has always been very independent. He has to be near me touching some part of my body, but he won't let me just snuggle and hug him. He'll let me get a quick little hug, then he's off. He only lets me hold and cuddle him when he is sick or hurt....just like a man....lol...but that's okay because my black toy poodle, Onyx is my cuddle bug. He literally purrs like a cat when I snuggle him....Aren't we so lucky to have dogs in our lives? |

| My Jewels has always been cuddly. Chachi has always been independent more especially so when he was a pup. He also favored my Husband. One day I just started picking him up (all 11 lbs of him) and talking sweetly to him. I just kept it up and now he comes to me and he wants to cuddle.
