That information, and the information I posted earlier about what the breeder of this dog had told AKC during the Nikko's Parti investigation in the late 1990's, I only learned of in the past 2 months from researching farther back into pedigrees and from a letter written by one of the parties involved in the investigation. The one common dog that is seen in the Nikko line and many of the other "outcross" parti lines is Ch Wildweir Pomp N Circumstance. Now, if this dog was a parti carrier, and has passed on the parti gene for nearly 50 years through his offspring, why is it so hard to believe that the parti gene was not passed down to him by other carriers who lived 50-60 years prior to his birth? |

That does not, however, change my response and suspicion as to "where everyone went." ;) |

Glad you asked the question though. Us died in the wool Yorkie fanciers do have strong opinions on color and back up the YTCA standard 100%. The parti people, choco lovers, and blonds will not change the standard. There have been way to many unethical and irresponsible breeders in the past and now its impossible to DNA or unravel what damage that has been done to this breed. I suggest reading articles and books by the Gordon/Bennett twins. They were the gurus of this breed and responsible, for the most part, bringing them recognised in this country. Their entire life was Yorkies!! No one has done more research about them that they have and no one has as much hands on experience than they did. |

The parti coloring in a number of "thought to be outcross lines" are all tracing back to one particular Wildweir dog. I don't think there is more than one "old time" breeder with the Wildweir name? Once you put 2 and 2 together, I tend to lean toward what the research, documentation and pedigrees are pointing to. I guess only the parties involved would know the answer for sure, the investigators from AKC, the parti owners fighting for registration privileges and the old time breeders that AKC interviewed about parti color showing up in their past/early litters. |
