| Will I ever be able to let her have free roam of the house?? I was wondering how many people successfully let their yorkie have free roam of the house? And if you do, at about what age were you able to do this? Pita is only 5 1/2 months old, so I know its too soon now, but sometimes I think it will never happen. Also any tips on how you went about it would be great too! Thanks! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I usually waited until they were completely potty trained, and that was different with each of mine. Anywhere from 9 months to a little over a year old. With having multiple dogs now, I gate off the back half of the house where we are most of the time and keep them confined to the bedrooms and hall when I am gone. There is to much for them to get into in the front of the house.

| it does take awhile, i would say lexi was approx 6 - 8 months before i gave her roam of the house.. i think....even when i did give her free roam, she slipped up a bit,, its gonna happen, so expect it.. she still slips up at 3 years old, but not at my house.. at my b/f's house. ha ha

| My yorkie is 1.5 years old and I've only had her for a bit over a month, she has free roam of the house and does great! We had some potty issues at first but now doing great, 1 accident in over a week and the accident was mommy's fault! |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Free Roam It depends on how well they do with their training. My boy was almost 2 before I started letting him have full run of the house. He was originally crate and pen trained. It took me almost a year just to potty train him completely. Then he had a few accidents. Once he was completely trained i started letting him out for like an hour at a time when I left just to see how he did. Then I extended that time. He now has full roam of the house and is no longer in need of a crate. He only chews on his toys and hasn't had any accidents in a long time. Good Luck! |

| Gus is 13 month old. He can't free roam due to destructive & harmful (to himself) chewing.
