Ogre? You're no ogre. You are WAY too nice. First of all, be careful with all of her delay techniques. When this finally goes to court, the judge may well say, "Why did you wait so long to send a registered letter...file..etc". Don't "hand" anything to her or her friends, cousins etc. Send everything REGISTERED MAIL, RETURN RECEIPT to start a legal record of your efforts to obtain the AKC papers. Find out what the statute of limitations is set at. Start you ball rolling, legally speaking. Talk to a lawyer and figure out how many different ways you can sue. If she owns her own home, her homeowners insurance may well settle just to avoid a claim on the property! There are soooo many ways you can make her life hell. Fraud is wrong and it certainly sounds like fraud to me. I would start putting the ads looking for the other buyers of the puppies.

she finally contacted me this afternoon right before I left for work. She wants to meet...again...this evening. we'll see what happens. Either way, I sent her a certified return receipt letter I got from the JP's office just in case she does her disappering act AGAIN. Will post if I get them...or not.

Should I still file a complaint with AKC?

Oh, yes, I got my papers. Took about 6 months after I threatened her legally. She produced them the next day.

I'm a breeder and it takes like 5 minutes to sit down and write this stuff up. You can even do it on line faster now. There's no paperwork. I'm glad you got your papers!

I just read this thread. I want to start by saying I'm sorry for all you went through. Second thanks for sharing. As a potential buyer I appreciate the heads up. She is way to much trouble to waste precious time on.

I am glad you finally got the papers. It is such a shame that this happened. Getting a new puppy is such a joyous occasion and to have it marred by the stress of dealing with this situation certainly diminished the joy.
