| I'm always afraid I'm gonna step on him! My baby boy JoJo is 10 weeks old and I think he's about 3 lbs now. He's got more energy than any puppy I've ever had! It's really cute how he is always following me whenever I'm moving around the house, but what concerns me is that he gets in between and all around my feet and makes it almost impossible for me to walk! I'm always afraid that I might step on him, so I have to take baby steps and it takes me so long to get from one spot to another. Is this common? More importantly, will he eventually outgrow the desire to constantly be at my feet? I love him to pieces, but sometimes it gets so frustrating just trying to move around. |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Mine has not outgrown it yet, to my knowledge they never do. I went to PetSmart and got a bell from the cat department (the ones in the dog dept are too small and not noisy enough) but the cat ones are big and make a ruckus. Just slide your feet don't pick them up, it works a lot better than baby steps plus if he sneaks where you don't see him you'll slide under him and move him rather than step on him. I grew up with big dogs so I'm adjusting to the 8 inch tall dog myself lol. Good luck!

| When Sam was that little, he always wore a bell because he was underfoot. He will be two next week *awww* and he is not always underfoot.... sometimes he likes to be. Depends on his mood, lol

Senior Yorkie Talker | Shelby used to do that.... but she eventually learned to walk beside me! Whenever she would go between my feet I would just stop in place and she would just stare at me, lol.... then I would start to walk again etc. She learned rather quickly that we wouldnt get very far if she kept "getting in the way" =]....

| I've lost count of the ammount of times I've tripped over Twinkle while trying to avoid stepping on her - and it's usually when I'm carrying in a plate of food! Then its a race to pick it all up off the floor before she scoffs it......I'm starting to think she's tripping me on purpose......... xxx xxx

| Gizmo is still underfoot, but he's learned to move fast to get out of the way when necessary. We also used a bell for awhile, and mastered the "yorkie shuffle". I can say that it has caused me to slow down. I don't run everywhere in the house at full speed any more. I really think that's been a blessing. My blood pressure is lower, and I'm much calmer than I used to be.

| i also did the bell on the collar thing for both oliver and brooklyn when they were little. they have learned to keep a little distance now, but, i am always careful where i step, and always look behind me! when i am at the sink doing dishes, there is usually at least one of them sleeping on the rug beside me!!

| I am with you on the worries! My baby doesn't run around all over yet, since he's not done with his vaccinations ( I AM SUPER CAUTIOUS ) but I know I am going to worry about that in a big way when he does! he is very small right now and 9 weeks, weighing all of about 1 lb .. I worry so much already so these responses are great! they are helping me brainstorm ideas on what to do to know he's there.... |

| Hot Rod was all of 1.5 lbs when we got him so he was tiny. He followed me everywhere and I was not used having that as I had 2 cats and they were very agile. Well, sad to say I did kick him a couple of times but he did learn to stay a couple of steps behind me after the 2nd or 3rd time. I finally got the "yorkie shuffle" down and now with Maggie I have not kicked her but she tends to zoom right into my step so I have almost fallen trying to avoid stepping on her. Can't win! lol.

| Ok, so I guess I'll just have to do the "yorkie shuffle" lol. At least until he's bigger or learns to walk beside me. I kicked him today accidentally, poor baby (lightly though, because I'm always walking with a light step now), and it was funny because he thought I was playing with him. Here I was all worried, and there he is...saying "That was fun mamma! Do it again!" lol |

| I had a friend that stepped on her baby and killed it. I am so careful with my little one.

| So far we have never stepped on either baby. But the older one of 7 months knows now to keep her distance even so. The little one of 3 months still tries to get underfoot. So we too do the yorkie shuffle until they get used to our big feet. |
