| Why do Yorkies tend to like one person? I've been wondering what makes a yorkie gravitate towards one family member. I've heard that it's because you feed them but what if more than that person feeds the dog and they still only like you? Just curious about their wiring and what makes 'em tick... |

| In my experience it's the person who the dogs think of as the 'alpha' in their home that they respect the most and so seem to like the most. Whoever feeds, walks, disoplines, spends the most time with them basically. Sounds like that's not really the answer you're looking for but that's my thoughts on it. Jess |

| I think that is true of all animals. I know that I tend to give more "comfort" to mine (and my cats when they were still alive). Hubby holds and plays with them too but I just seem to be the more cuddling parent. I found out just how much a mama's boy Hot Rod is the other day at the vets...he did not want to go to anyone or stay with anyone when he was able to see me in his sight. The vet tech had to stand in front of me before Hot Rod would even think about settling down. lol.

| Now I am going through the same thing here and my yorkie favors me the most. I work from 8am til 4pm and from what my hubby tells me the dog doesn't really do much. She leaves her bed occasionally but spends most her time in her bed til I am home. We're trying to work on this but I am just her favorite so far. I think that it does have alot to do who they feel the most comfortable with, the person who is their caregiver. Two can help out equally but I think that dogs can sense things and I have children so I think my dog just senses that I am mommy and therefore comes to me for everything. I have always had a connection with animals and most animals come to me easily and love me. |

| Clarence loves on Kevin more. Keegan splits his time. If I'm home he prefers me. When we first got him he was a aggressive toward everyone at home, except me. So we had to work on that. Kevin started walking & feeding him in the evening & did some diciplining. How do I get Keegan to quit giving the other boys the "I'm the boss" hairy eyeball????? They take off when he does that. |

| To all those who thinks that it has to do with who the main caregiver is, I say, 'Whatever!" I have always been the main caregiver, and both of the girls like me best. But when it comes to Zaccheus, he is fine with me and the kids all day long, but when Daddy comes home, forget it! He sees no one but Daddy.

| I've just noticed that Isla is always coming to me to "save" her. If she doesn't want the kids or other dogs to touch her she runs in between my legs. Or if I leave the house my husband says she sits at the top of the stairs and whines and waits for me to get back. Anyone who tries to pick her up but me (and sometimes me too) she jumps back and runs away like they're going to hurt her. That's annoying. I think people who come over thinks she's the most unsocial thing ever. Most puppies will go and play with anyone, but not Isla!!! |

| I also heard that the males gravitate towards their female caregiver and the females gravitate towards the males in the house. All i know is that my little Ben is my little Baby! My DB says that I baby him too much, but i dont think I do, DB gets mad when Ben will only come to me, I do the feeding and the walking and the bathing and grooming, so hmmm, I wonder why he likes me more!

| Everyone seems to have a different experience so I guess it depends on the individual yorkie.....I do EVERYTHING for Twinkle, but my youngest daughter, who's only 1 is her favourite. I think it's because she's a baby too! xxx xxx

| Ours are free fed, and whoever gets up first(usually hubby) will give them their treats in the morning. None of my 3 care who they're sitting by, so no preference here |

| Well...since it is just me and Strawb at home, she tends to come to me most and listen to me the best. She has no choice...I am the one who rubs her tummy...that is the way to my girl's heart! Hahaha! But she is a very friendly, outgoing girl. She will play with anyone and I have gotten my friends and family to run through her tricks with her and she listens to them as well and will lay down and sleep on almost anyone who gives her attention. Which is nice. I wanted a friendly dog. She always come to Momma to cuddle in the morning and the evening! Haha!
