| Tiffany had another siezure! Yesterday. This one was much worse than the one the night before. She was just walking beside me, fell on her side, and started jerking and screaming. It was so terrible. I picked her up and headed straight to the ER. The Dr did blood work and said everything is perfect and she must be having a reaction to the shots she had Monday. We suspect that she was given too large of a dosage. I cried the whole way to the vet I was so afraid she wasnt going to make it. I can't stand for her to be hurting. She seemed to be feeling much better today. My poor baby. The Dr also said it could possibly be due to stress. I sure hope not! So glad I have Yt! I'll keep you posted!

| How old is she? The dosage for vaccines is the same for all dogs for the most part...

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I'm not so sure a reaction to shots would occur this late. Please remember seizures are a symptom....

| I'm so sorry your Tiffany is having this reaction to her vaccines.....this is a very real and serious risk when vaccines are given, every vaccine has risks......For me, I would never do this again, the next time might be worse... If you google.... vaccines adverse reactions in pets.... you'll find a ton of info on this very issue.... http://www.angelfire.com/biz/froghol...accBlanco.html

| Prayers for Tiffany... Did you get a copy of the bloodwork from your vet? It's always best to keep a copy and take a look at it yourself... I hope everything's okay. And as Bchgrl said, seizures are a symptom of something...The sooner you get to the bottom of it, the sooner you can do something to prevent them..

She is 3 1/2. She only weighs 2 1/2 lbs and they usually split up her shots. A different dr. gave it to her this past time.

I thought it was odd that it would happen this late too. But the bloodwork was normal.

| My recommendation would be no more shots for Tiffany, and just do titers...I hope she doesn't go through this again. Poor girl!! I know how stressful it is to see them have a seizure...It's terrifying.

| NO more shots -- they can have reactions up to 30 days after a vaccination contact dr. jean dodds at Animal Blood Bank and Restore Health Cente and consult her as i believe it was the vaccines. I just learned from someone on here they give the rabies dose the same for a 90lb dog as a 2lb dog so if they gave her the full rabies that was not good and it is up to the owner to ask for a lower dose. I titer for everything and have for years. I am so sorry but i have to say this was shot related if she never had seizures before and she is 3 now -- did you have pre and post bile acids done to rule out liver disease? How long after shots did she have this grand mal as this was a grand mal and not petite as petit they just go stiff on side but grand mal is when they shake - poor thing that just infuriates me with the over vaccinating especially in small breeds. what vaccines did they give and get that blood work- epilepsy is hard to detect in blood work but honestly i still blame the shots. My parents have a 7 year old silky who is healthy as can be and he had his shots and they did bordatella shot and he dry heaved for 4 days afterwards and then tried to tell my dad it might be pancreatitis when he never gets anything but kibble for 7 years and no high fat treats. I was so angry and called vet and said never give him bordatella shot again and put on his records and why are you vaccinating every year when it is suppose to be every 3 years now and they said it was up to the owners to tell them this -- unbeleiveable so you have to be your own pets health advocate it seems. I asked what was different from previous year and they said they gave bordatella shot instead of intranasal and i said now that is what caused it so mark his chart to never get that and why did she do this to begin with? she said because he is muzzled so she did the shot -- I told them there are muzzles with an open nose give me a break and everyone knows there are more side effects to shots than intranasal. They wanted to run a bunch of tests to see what was wrong with him and i said the only thing wrong with this healthy dog was the vaccinations -- luckily my dad told them he did not have the money so what do they recommend. Smartest thing my dad did as they would have ran wild with that bill by what he was telling me sorry to vent but it just gets me upset how we have to do so much homework when this is there job to inform us what is safe for our toy breeds. |

| I am so sorry to hear this, I know exactly how you feel, my baby had two seizures last week. They are very very scarey!! I will keep your baby in my prayers. I think from what others are saying that shots are a very good possibility. But that your doctor mentioned stress. My vet believed that my babies was due to stress, being a little cold and probably didn't eat enough that day when she has hers. So far since then I have been keeping her very warm, make sure shes eating enough and keeping the house not to crazy. Mines been okay and hasn't had another episode. I hope your baby is alright, please keep us updated! |
