| Greetings Everyone! My name is Scott and I just got our Yorkie for my wife for her birthday on 9/1/08. We named our little guy Pippin after the Pippin/Peregrin Took character in The Lord Of The Rings as he's always getting into trouble just like the character does! We almost named him Clydesdale (hence the screen name) because that's how big he acts! This little guy isn't afraid of anything! We got him as a rescue because he has a bad eye. It's slightly smaller than it should be which causes some issues with it. He has cataracts in that eye and it was pretty bloodshot for a while. Our vet diagnosed that Pip has clamidia in that eye and has prescribed some antibiotics in gel form that we have to put into his eye. The antibiotics seem to be clearing up the blood considerably in his eye. He's pretty much blind in that eye, but we're hoping that he can at least keep the eye. As of right now, the eye doesn't seem to bother him at all, so we're pretty hopeful in that respect. Pippin is a young pup of only three to four months old and has a wonderful personality. Hope to check in here from time to time and learn all that we can for our little guy! Take care, Scott |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Hi Scott You're a very good hubby. My hubby also got me one for my birthday and then stole her.I guess she was so cute he couldn't resist. I hope pippens eye gets better.Well done on taking him home with you, loads of people won't take in animals with defects. We got a african grey a few years back and because he had a deformed foot the breeder thought we wouldn't take him but he chose us and is the most adorable bird ever. All they want is love. Yorkies do seem to thing they are giants. My Jamie rules the roost and even bubbles who thinks she is boss is afraid of him,not to mention when the neighbours Rottweilers are being taken for a walk he shouts very loud at them. Will hold thumbs for Pippens continued good health

| Hi Scott!!!! what a wonderful present for you wife!!!! I'm sure you BOTH will just adore Pippin!! I hope he's able to keep his eye!!! I'm always so happy to hear when someone rescues a dog or pup!!! You will get back much more from Pippin than you gave to get him, and to keep him healthy. Rescues just seem more appreciative!!! I've rescued 2 large dogs!!! Maybe one day I'll try to rescue a yorkie/mix. They are NOT that common here in Montana. Welcome to YT!!! congrats on your special little guy.....and please post pics of him as soon as you can!!!

| Thanks for the welcomes everyone! Do Yorkies have problems with their eyes? Meaning can that be something to take notice of when looking for a Yorkie? This little guy is loved very much, except for our Cockapoo Molly, but that's just because she's four years old and Pippin being a pup kind of wears on Molly. Scott |

| Hello Scott and welcome!! Just about neighbors! haha!! My Daisy has one eye. The other one was removed prior to me getting her. I was told she had a dry eye which was very painful. So instead of her induring the pain, they removed the eye. She gets along just fine without it. I have heard of other yorkies having eye problems, don't know if it is something to be concerned about or not. I am sure our resident specialists on yorkie health will be able to answer that. I am just a novice.
