| Outraged! What I saw at the airport! I was at the airport today waiting for my boyfriend to come back from San Juan Costa Rica I was waiting by the baggage claim and noticed a barking noise from this small crate thing that looked like it should hold nothing more than a hampster or guineu pig...but to my suprise it had a yorkie/mix breed come out and it was about 8-9 pounds and WAY too big for that tiny crate. Im not overexaggerating when I am saying it could fit a guineu pig or something that small!!!!! Then i watched as the poor thing had to stretch when they let him out! Then it peed on the carpet in front of everyone..GRR! I walked by and said "That cage looks too small for your dog, poor thing!" and they gave me a dirty look. I thought I'd share my story...Instead of being overly excited my boyfriend has come back after not seeing him for a week, I was so mad and sad for that poor dog!

| I dont blame you I would have been outraged too. I think it is great that you spoke up, even if it did get you a dirty look. I wish more people spoke up when they saw things like this. |

| They were probably trying to save money on shipping and put him in a crate the size of an envelope. They are beyond SORRY!

| I hate reading stuff like this! What's wrong with people? I think someone should take the owner and stuff them in a suitcase and ship them someplace and see how they like it. I could not imagine treating something I hold so much love for in that manner. My first regard is always in their well being.

| I guess it was too late since they were returning, but I still would have said something to the airline. The person who checked them in should have ensured that the dog had enough room to stand up and turn around inside it's container. Was he carried on? I sure hope so. I don't think any dog that small should be checked. Brad always travels on board with me. All but one time I was granted permission to take him out too. He served very useful a couple of times to quite very loud kids and babies. I just make sure he stays out of view as much as possible to prevent any complaints. |

| It is odd that the airport would even let him be shipped in a crate too small. When I was flying from alaska to new york with my dog they made me take him out and put him back in and make him move around etc to be sure that he had enough room etc in his crate. They were not going to let me fly him cause they thought it was too small but then when they saw him inside it they saw that he had plenty of room to stand fully. I think it is evil and unfeeling to pack a dog in a crate that is too small for them. Mind you after that one flight and the return he turned into a sausage roll and could never fly again in the crate so I just started driving to New york once a year instead We liked that better was our big adventure every year. |

| I too am surprised that the airline allowed that! If Toto couldn't be in the cabin with me, we just wouldn't fly! When we go through security, you would think I had a tiny criminal in the carrier ... they go over her and her carrier with a fine tooth comb. I'm going to try to find her a little convict costume and let her wear it every time we fly! People who don't seem to be concerned with the comfort of their pet, just shouldn't have them!
