| Vet says ready for another booster shot???? I got Winston at 5 months (breeder said he had had all of his puppy shots). I took him straight away to vet to be checked out. He said he needed a booster on puppy shots and gave him his rabies shot. Now he is 7 months and I just got a note in the mail saying winston is needing another booster. (???) Does this sound right to everyone? |

| paperwork shows he had 4 sets of 7n1 puppy shots along with wormings, every 2 wks from 4 wks of age. When I took him to my vet he gave him a puppy booster, rabies, and worming. I thought he would be through with shots until his yrly boosters. |

| The first rabies shot should be good for a year. Distemper/parvo booster is likely what's needed. http://www.utahpets.org/img/spay/dogvaccinations.pdf

| It seems like he should be done to me. Mine had 4 sets of shots and their rabies. I would call them and see if theyve made a mistake

| Ultimately this is between you, the breeder and your vet, but I wouldn't have let him get the rabies shot with out contacting the breeder first. I believe overvaccination is a problem, especially for small dogs. If I were you, I would do some online research about vaccination and titer testing. Take it to your vet and see if he is willing to consider the info. JMO, but I wouldn't want a vet (or doctor) that wasn't willing to continually educate himself and keep an open mind. Do you have shot records from the breeder? Did she/he give them do the dog or did they take the pups to a vet? Regardless, you should have gotten some kind a shot record. If the shots were given at home, ask for copies receipts, dates given and lot numbers from the vaccines. If the breeder doesn't have any of this info, I would look into titer testing, before possible double vaccinating a toy breed. I would also not go back to this breeder. Maybe you should seek a second opinion. |

| It sounds like your pup had more than enough with the shots and wormings....those 7-1 vaccines contains vaccines that where unnecessary and subjected your pup to harmful ingredients..... If you google "overvaccination pets" you'll get a wealth if info on pet vaccines.....Here is a vaccine schedule that Dr Jean Dodds put together for people who are confused on what their pet might get....She only recommends parvo, distemper, and rabies....... Vaccination Schedule Recommendations For Dogs There is plenty of research out there that will tell you that after puppy vaccines, the pup is protected for life....Boosters do nothing more than subject your pet to harmful ingredients in the vaccines like aluminum and mercury....Giving a booster to a pet that already has immunity does not make the pet "more" immune, nor does it increase the immunity, the vaccine does nothing because the immunity they already have blocks the booster..... Pet Vaccination danger - adverse reaction to routine vaccination Are we vaccinating too much?

| How many distemper shots does it show? I agree, that you don't want to give uneeded vaccinations. Possibly a computer error from the vet.

The vaccines should be single doses given 4 weeks apart and that includes the rabies......it's easier for the body to cope with one at a time....and the pet should not be ill when given........

| If you didn't before, I'd call or go to the vets office, and show them the paperwork.
